One of my dad's longtime friends was the son of Ray Caffrey, one of the agents killed in the massacre. Wild times back then, for sure.

I posted this a while back, but Michael Sams -- the football player From MU -- well, his boyfriend is the grandson of Willie 'the Rat' Cammisano. He was boss for a while after the Civellas were dead or in jail. He was a bad, bad guy.

Stumbled onto this page, just happened to have finished reading The Dark Side of Camelot, by Seymour M. Hersh, speaking of mob books. This one is a biography of the Kennedy Family/administration and how intertwined the two worlds became around the time JFK took office (Which wouldn't have happened without the help of the Mob).

Anyways, long book, but probably the most lurid and astonishing non-fiction I've read. Most definitely not what we were taught in school!

Anyways, most worthwhile read I have had in some time, thought I'd share.

Glad you did -- sounds interesting. I'm starting to think, maybe, those Kennedys didn't always play by the rules :D

'The Devil's Tickets'. A true story of a murder in Kansas City in the 1930s. The characters are prominent Kansas City folks who are connected by bridge, a very popular card game of the time.

Just wrapped up "Code of the Hills" by Nancy Allen- courtroom/mystery taking place in the Ozarks. I think it's her first book, but thought it was pretty good. Had all the typical streotypes/assumptions/truths about the Ozarks. She just came out with a new one I will be ordering shortly "A Killing at the Creek"

Just wrapped up 'Mafia and the Machine' about the Pendergast political machine in Kansas City in the early/mid-1900's and the KC mafia. KC had a reputation as a wild, wild town. Lot's of interesting early KC mafia stuff too. KC truly was one of the biggest, most influential mob families in the country.

Now reading 'Unbroken' about Louie Zamperini, the Olympic distance runner who later ended up in a Japanese POW camp after 47 days floating in the Pacific Ocean. Survived years of torture before getting out.

Unbroken was a good read.  Never heard of him till I read the book a few years ago, now they make a movie about him.  Don't want to see it though, so often the movie is so different from the book it just ticks me off.

I saw that the movie was rated just two stars and I looked it up on rottentomatoes.com and it's just 51%. I think I'll skip that one.
