denjac Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 That is a nice hawg! I didn't know that the red river (FLW) was cancelled. Any reason why? I'm behind on reports. Jimmy Houston was not to happy about them canceling the event. His Qoutes on the matter: JIMMY HOUSTON The FLW Tornament on the Red River was canceled I was totally shocked. It's amazing to me that it was safe enough to practice for three days but suddenly to scary for some anglers to fish. This is not an easy game, never has been and never will be. ( JIMMY HOUSTON To succeed, it takes a lot of hard work and and unusual amount of tou...ghness Im 65 years old, I chose to play this game when we had no sponsors, no fancy trucks and boats provided and had to pay every penny out of our own pocket! We also played for prize money thar was a fraction of whatnis available today. No one ever forced us to fish and ... See Moreeveryone had the option to quit if it got to tough or scary for them. A group of fishermen that were too afraid of the river, after spending three days practicing on it, should not penalize the rest who were willing to compete. I've heard the rumor that some fishermen did not want to compete because they were not catching fish. I hope this was not true. As a group, the FLW fishermen are exceptionally talented and extremely good fishermen. Every angler has the right to pull out and go home if they fear the water or weather but it's not right to force their opinion on the field. Yes I. am disappointed I continue to fish a few tournaments each year to try to make this sport better for future tournament fishermen. I would challenge everyone out there, both FLW and BASS anglers alike, to always put this game above your personal agenda. In the long run, everyone will benefit from that approach To really be a Pro fishermen, it takes a lot more than just catching bass. I pray that everyone has a safe trip home and everyone catches a bunch at Table Rock. God is Good Today. Jimmy Wed at 9:01am · Report Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. If your man enough that is the kind of bite you can get this time of the year. May be your personal best for the year. I would take it as mine. Jason Essary Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Sorry, should have detailed the post. Caught it around 3 yesterday. Just up the white the main lake. Dont know the area well yet but learning. Found a huge group of shad on a channel swing in 40 foot of water, the graph wouldnt even find the bottom. No wind and no sun, the stick wouldnt get hit so was throwing grubs. It hit so light, felt like I was pulling over a limb till it shook its head and I set the hook. 6lb florocarbon got it to the boat. Bill Babler Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 Jersy, You missed the boat there guy. Man, you could have made that sweet. "ie" Saw a slight shadow on the water of the upper limbs of a massive cedar. Breeze was blowing across the top of the tree so I knew I would need a precision cast. Taking the wind into consideration, I Kentucked the cast 6ft. into the breeze. The Falcon Cara StickBait Special equipped with a Shimano Core and 8 Pound Seugar Fluracarbon deposited the Megabass Wagu Wagaski, just on the outside limbs. I jerked the bait 4 quick times and it suspended in the gin clear water 4ft. next the the largest outer limb. Knowing with the water temps at the 40 degree range it would be a slow presentation, I turned the baits head from left the right and right to left. The huge fish seemed to rise from the center of the tree in somewhat of a mystical appearance. Fully a foot from the suspended presentation, the massive female Largemouth flared her gills and the magicial presentation disaperared into her huge mouth. Knowing the tree was a clear and present danger, I coaxed the huge fish into clear water. Being aware of fishing 8 Pound line I eased the pedal of the trolling motor forward and guided the boat and fish away from the danger. The fish realizing she had met her match, came to the net with ease. AH! YA! Another day on the Rock. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
