Aloha all, new Taneycomo dude here. So far all I've fished has been the slot area up by the dam but I'd like to net a couple of frying pan worthy fishies. Are there any decent wade-able areas downriver? If so, since I don't know the area well yet, would you mind giving general directions? For example, I've seen Bull Creek mentioned but I don't even know where that is.

Thanks for any info.

A boat would be best down there, but here are a few areas to try from shore.

The Landing parking lot. I saw tons of fish midging down there.

Up by Scotty's also.

Rockaway beach has a lot of area to fish from shore.

Down at the other dam. The name escapes me.

Let us know how you do.

I think it is hwy F off of 65 headed towards Forsyth that crosses Bull Creek. Turkey Creek across from the Landing might provide some wading opportunities also. You can wade below Powersite dam on upper Bull Shoals. Roark Creek might give you some places to wade fish also and that is right by the Landing. I have caught a few trout in Beaver Creek and Swan Creek this time of year, but not many.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

I don't know if you have to wade, but if you don't, there are bank areas. Cooper Creek has a nice fishing dock, Rockaway has an Island that provides access to deeper water, and Empire, at Ozark Beach, has a dock and a lot of back space. There are also some trout below Powersite dam, but they can be elusive at times.

All of those are public.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Off F Hwy. Cross over Bull Creek, and then pull into Bull Creek Village. Drive back to the City Hall ie a double wide trailer house located by the park of picnic tables and a BB court. Put on the waders hop into the creek and walk about a mile down till you see trout. Some may be midging some just in the deep holes. They been there since I was a kid. Caught them pretty good there this Winter on an egg fly. Bet they would bite a dry or a tandem. Trout, usually stay up there till it get warm, easy wading water, kind of a nobrainer.

Best to go when the water is at normal levels, do not go after rain as it really clouds the water. Duckydoty's advice was Premo!!

Bill and I fished where he's describing a couple of months ago and caught alot of rainbows. I've floated from 160 Hwy to F several times. It's only a 1.5 - 2 mile float. I got to thinking, if you had a whole day you could walk it, or I should say wade it. There are some great runs in that section. You'd have to have another person and 2 vehicles or if you feel adventuresome, hitch hike back.

Check out google earth and look at this stretch to get a better idea.
