XP 590 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 OK, I've changed my mind. I now officially hate the troutcam. All it took was one look at my buddy down there this afternoon throwing wollybuggers off the top of the dam to change my mind. .....must fish...must fish...why am I working????!!!??
Members ITGUY Posted May 14, 2010 Members Posted May 14, 2010 Update: Wifi equipment will be installed for free wifi access to lower campground and lodge areas within the next month. Also, the web cam is taking stills every minute and updating to the gov web page. It also changes postions every 1/2 hour between 7 am and 4pm and then will return to the dam for the evening and night. People, there are not other cameras hidden in the park. That's a fact.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you guys should be spending that money on stocking more fish. I don't think most people go down there to sip lattes and browse the net...maybe I'm wrong.
Members ITGUY Posted May 14, 2010 Members Posted May 14, 2010 Conservation handles the fishing and stocking. DNR handles the park and camp grounds. Wifi is one of the most requested things we get at campgrounds.

My job requires me to be on call certain weeks and I need to have my laptop with me in case I need to do a little emergency work. Easy internet access at the camprounds makes my life much easier and I get back to the stream much quicker. IT guy thanks for update on the web cam and confirming there are no other camera's in the park. I must be in the minority, but I like being able to look at the stream from a far. Still hoping for an underwater camera.

Members ITGUY Posted May 14, 2010 Members Posted May 14, 2010 I would rather be sitting by the campfire... Guess it ok for rainy days !

I know at least the trout parks I fish (Montauk generally), I'd much rather have about half as many fish and half as many fisherman. If it keeps people away, I say cut the stocking numbers. I don't like fishing in a crowd, do you?
eric1978 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 There have been mixed opinions about the amount of fish at Bennett. I haven't been down there so I don't know, but if there is a shortage, I'd rather see money spent on improving the fishing rather than technological advances that I couldn't care less about...wherever that money comes from. I like the C&R idea. And no, I don't care for hordes of people, and if I want to avoid them, I won't go to a trout park.
stlfisher Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I will be at Bennet next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so I will be sure to report back on the amount of fish, people, etc. There have certaintly been mixed reviews. A friend of a friend slayed them last week and I heard the guys from Hargrove's caught like 10 fish in 3 days. Who knows at this point, but I plan to have a good time regardless.
