Members Casey Self Posted March 3, 2010 Members Posted March 3, 2010 We went down to fish Taney over the weekend and with all 4 gen's running we decided to head over to Crane instead. I had never fished there before but a buddy on our trip goes quite often and I've been wanting to check it out for a while, so we went over there and got after them. Caught some fish on buggers and mostly dries. Beutiful weekend and beutiful fish!! Really colorful guy. Merlin Olsen's favorite jig is the Micro Jig....RIP M.O. XP 590 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Beautiful pics. I just hit Crane for my first time last fall and can't wait to get back. PS: Thanks for starting a new Crane Creek thread, the last one was getting a little old.
exiledguide Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Great pictures, I was there yesterday at noon on the way home from Galena I don't do much Trout fishing but what a great looking stream with public access I may have to give it a try. If you see a lot of leader and flies in the trees you will know I was there Before I left I stopped at the Crane Cafe and had the lunchon special an overloaded plate of Beef Tips and Noodles, smashed taters with gravy, peas, cole slaw and a dinner roll for $4.95. I did tell them I was eating there because of the fishing in the creek.
duckydoty Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Nice McCloud! I should be heading back over there before the week is over. Thanks for sharing. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
fozzie. Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Great photos, though I'd rather not see fish laying in dead dry leaves. Thanks for sharing, though, I'd love to get down there sometime soon. Tom.

Gavin Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Sounds like Crane Creek is turning into Bennett Springs.
Members Casey Self Posted March 3, 2010 Author Members Posted March 3, 2010 Where is the place to get the eats at? We were looking around town and stopped a police officer and he told us the only place to eat was Subway..I'm thinking because he was worried about the local's spitting in his food or something. haha. We ended up eating when we got back to Taney where we were staying. Next time I go down I want to stay closer by so I can fish alot longer. now that I have fished one area i'd like to try out some of the others for sure. That 12 incher faught like a 4 pound trout when he nailed my brown bugger. You could tell he wasn't happy to have a hook in his mouth. Could see where you need to watch out for snakes come a little warmer weather. Merlin Olsen's favorite jig is the Micro Jig....RIP M.O. Coming from the creek going to Bllings the highway turns left the first street on the left is one way heading back to the creek in the middle of the first block on the right is Crane Cafe amongst flea markets and other little shops. My bride of 48 years saw your pictures and said lets go fishing.

I don't remember the particulars, but the Crane Cafe has pretty limited hours. I remember I had to adjust my plans because they closed at 2PM or something like that. John
