Any updates on this story? It sounds like the lake was busy this weekend.

Article in the KC Star this morning reported that the water patrol are still searching. Thursday they have a side-scan sonar arriving.

The news seems to be a bit "hush" about this. Was the guy in some kind of legal trouble or something ?

Yeh I agree somthing just not quite right. With all due respect for the family and without sounding morbid, I wonder if the cold water is keeping them down and when it warms up if they will come up. I know they say lake superior never gives up its dead due to the cold water.

The reason this isn't being reported heavily is simply there is no new news. Due to the cold water, the bodies will not surface. They could be in water over 60 foot deep and that makes it harder to get divers etc down to them even if they are found. The area that is being searched is huge and it is harder to image the bottom and get a clear picture when the boat is rocking back and forth.

I don't want to make anyone mad, but we don't need to start any conspiracy theories. We have all made some really bad decisions that we were lucky enough to make it thru. It's a lot easier to look back and see those bad decisions but it's a little tougher to look into the future and believe what those decisions might bring.

I'm sure that if this dad had the opportunity to make a different decision today and change the outcome, he would do it just like any of us would do it. We need to remember the family and the reason this happened and not be afraid of saying something if we see someone putting a boat onto this lake that isn't safe due to the weather. As boaters we probably have a better understanding of the dangers that might be present. Someone with less experience might not understand how dangerous a 20+ mph wind can be on stockton. The week after this happened another boat capsized on Stockton, however they were lucky enough to make it to shore and were rescued.

Please try to keep in mind that a dad and an 8 year old kid lost their lives in this incident, and their wife and mother is still waiting for word at home so they can have some type of closure. There is also some talk of making a memorial playground over at cedar ridge to remember both of them and remind people of the dangers of going out w/o a pfd etc. I will try to post something when and if that happens.

Has anyone heard anything more about this? I've been wanting to go put in and go fishing but something about me finding these guys myself is a little spooky, especially since I would have my 7 and 8 year old Daughters with me. Have they called off the search or what? I would hope that for the families sake they would search until they find em!

I'd say if they were going to be found it would have happened by now. Either way, I wouldn't cancel a trip over it.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but wanting to stay away from the consiracy theories. Either way Sad story for sure. We should all still definetly keep the mother in our prayers and on the prayer list at our churches. So does anyone know if they cancelled the search or not?
