Flysmallie Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I feel ya though, I guess it's just a matter of values. I've seen lots of things afield which make me shake my head- one of the things that always makes me wince are the obligatory "dump the fish on the gravel/rocks/grass/dirt/dry leaves next to my rod," photos. Why decrease its chances for survival any more than necessary? That's all I'm saying, and I don't think it's a terribly radical position. I don't know. Why don't you ask OTF, he seems to be the one in most agreement with you, but then again he also has an avatar picture of a sacred trout laying in the grass. I wish one of you guys would come on my next fishing trip to help keep me in line.
MOFishwater Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I'm not sure I follow that argument. Should we quit turning in poachers because they're having fun? Should a flasher not be prosecuted because we're not supposed to judge their actions? Forgive me, I inferred that this thread was complaining about someone exclaiming their excitement over catching a few filets for dinner.
Members rubicon31 Posted April 2, 2010 Members Posted April 2, 2010 where is the respect for the worm that was used to catch my glourious trout, the respect for the chicken that was plucked to tie your fly? fishing ultimately affects some form of life in one way or the other. pro life???? fine for the fish but not the worm???? fry a fish or two that's what they are there for. scream in excitement when you've caught a personal best. that's what's it's about, if your wanting be pro life, stay home and watch whale wars.......
Gavin Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice, wheres the other dozen? I try to handle fish gently if I'm gonna release them, and I kill them immediately if I plan to eat one..A quick knife to the gills and their done. Bought all you can do...No sense in complaining about what someone else might do..You cant control that, so why let it ruin your day. Cheers.
Members VIP Posted April 2, 2010 Members Posted April 2, 2010 Booyah!!!! Cheers. That poor fishie. You should be ashamed of yourself, lol. I hope you weren't excited when you caught him, cause that would just be wrong. Try and remember this day when that 5lb Bass hits your top water lure buzzing around a dock later this year. DO NOT get excited. Keep your heart rate at a steady beat. Thanks for the thread, it made my day :>

patfish Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Is that seriously the thread title you chose? Respect? For fish? Seriously? Is this the new code for "Lets have a catch and release vs. catch and keep debate?" Oops, wet wool glove catch and release... I par cooked this one on the side of an aluminum canoe in the middle of July and released it so the next guy that caught it wouldn't have to wait as long for it to cook before he devoured it... I caught and released this one and he loved me so much he hung around for me to take his picture.... I probably should have waited for him to get away from the moss, rocks and gravel before I took the picture but I didn't know and apparently neither did he. Now I do, just gotta remember to tell him. I string my trout right through the eyes because they live longer they just can't see and I really enjoy it when one drops milt or eggs all over my waders before I slit em nape to neck and rip out their guts.
