Champ188 Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 After 30 years of just silently abiding the rudeness, I'm with Capt. Joe on this. If we don't say something, it just continues. And we can do so politely. The ones who don't know better at least will understand what they are doing is intruding on others. Possibly they'll use that knowledge to avoid doing so in the future. The ones who don't care just might pick up and go bother someone else. Folks like that tend to be cowards anyway. They'll walk all over you if you let them but they'll turn tail and run when challenged. If not, like Capt. Joe, I'm a big boy and we can go to the bank if they like.
Bill Babler Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 For me as far as the behavior of others here, I don't believe there is a lake in the world harder to figure out what is right and what is wrong. Table Rock fishermen, fish all parts of the lake, all depths of the water column and use every method and every product on the market. The reason is the diversity of our fish. We always have deep fish, we always have shallow fish, we always have suspended fish and we always have very hard to catch fish. It is very hard to tell, without studying what another angler is doing to determine how or what parts of the water he or she is fishing. You may think he is bank fishing when he is sitting out on a point and vertical jigging, you just have to watch to know. For the most part here we are very seldom target fishing. If we are going down a bank target fishing, cutting in front is more than rude. Pulling behind at an appropreate distance is acceptable. When deep fishing pulling onto a hump or sharing deep river channel is very acceptable. You cannot pull onto some of the deep flats and stake a claim. Just does not work that way. Kind of my rule of thumb, on deep fishing is if my electronics are interfering with another boat, I am to close. If I can cast into your boat or you mine, we are to close. This is much different than fishing a bank. When White bass fishing, it has been combat fishing since I started at the Pot-Hole and on the Rivers here in the late 60's early 70's, so that is not a new thing. If someone is catchin Whites, you will have friends. Has been that way for all time, not a new thing. Just got to do like the poster said, if you don't like it go finish the limit elsewhere. Boat cost has nothing to do with anything. Remember my Long Creek Rant from 3 yrs. ago. I was completely surrounded by a complete herd of Buzzing Bass Trackers, and as far as money or boat cost, we all know you ain't droppin a bunch of coin on a tracker. Before going to Batty, take a breath and think how you are fishing and try and think about the persons intentions. If they have pulled infront of you to get an advantage, they probably need a little visit. If they are just out enjoying the day and most of us are, there are lots of fish in this lake. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members danny Lawrence Posted April 17, 2010 Members Posted April 17, 2010 I was raised on table rock and the last couple of years the people have gotten ruder. I don't think it's a money thing I think it's just some people believe there better than the next guy these are the same people that will go throught a door and let it slam on the next person. I always try to give everyone room on the water and I will say something to someone who is crowding me. If you don't stand up for yourself nobody will. Just how I was raised.
jay bird Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Had an old man tell me a story last week and not sure if it is true, but he swears that it happened. There was a couple of guys fishing for crappie and had started to catch a few. Pretty soon some more boats turned up and some where getting pretty much right next to the original guys fishing in the boat. One of the original guys stood up in the boat pulled out a 45 and put a couple of rounds into the lake between the boats. He then looked at the guys in the boat and said " I hate Turtles." and continued to fish as if nothing happened. DISCLAIMER THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO HANDLE THE SITUATION, BUT IT IS FUNNY.
Ham Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 You could go down to BSL where you have a chance to fish areas alone. Just sayin. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
BlueWave Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I don't want to fish near anyone, because I don't want people laughing at my skills.

I sat two rods next to each other and when I went to pick them up....somehow the line to one managed to get into the split ring of a McStick on the other. Then while trying to untangle them....the sharp treble hook managed to get into the net. Once that was untangled, the hook managed to embed itself into my favorite camo life jacket! Miracles I tell ya! Tim Carpenter
