And... the guides on this board are only a fraction of the total number on, say, Table Rock. Do the other guides know about OAF? You bet. For differing reasons, they don't post here. Some do on other sites, ie. fishing reports (fee based and free).

I appreciate all who do and in return promote their services all I can on the site.

I concur!

Just thinking out loud here; I wonder if the guides who post on here regularly can attribute their generosity and participation on OAF to an increase in business?

I certainly know I would hire a contributor. And have recommended OAF contributors to others. :goodjob:

Hey Bill.

Sounds like you are really busy with all that is going on. Sounds like you need extra help.

WHERE DO WE SEND OUR RESUMES or will PIC and video of our fishing work. :D

You should send that guy to the OAF so he can see what all you really do.

We "definitely" appreciate all you do for us.

Good Luck and Safe Fishing

Just what is a OAF contributor? I have seen that while others, that post more reports and information are just "fishing buddies".

Valid question. I can assign a name to anyone on the forum by over riding the automatic name given by the forum. I started giving that name to those who contribute reports and articles. Most are guides who have guide businesses, full or part time.

If you notice... Terry Beeson has a special name all to himself. So I have some fun with it.

There are some "moderators" but they don't have any special powers on the board. Some boards give moderators power to edit and/or delete posts and topics. I think that would cause more trouble than it's worth. Dan and myself are the only ones who are full admins and have access to the forum's backend.

Uh oh..........looks like a post of mine may have muddy the waters again. To add to what Phil said.....

I didn't mean 'contributor' in any official sense. Just referring to 'fishing buddies' as mentioned; and those who make their living as guides, generous enough to post free info.

A bit of a parallel that comes to mind; would be a popular restaurant, reservations needed WAY in advance, and they serve your favorite dish. It always has that special something that makes it fantastic. Now, imagine the chef/cook/owner posting the exact recipe online, and how to fix it; for free. Secret ingredients and all.

Hard to find that kind of generosity these days? Not here at OAF! ;)

Motoman, well I can speak for myself on this one.. Really I don't see a increase of business just because I post information on the OAF site, I have had the ability to take out a few members and that was a great time with all of them.. But really I do this for one reason, Because I like too...

When I first started coming down to the rock from KC, I could never find any information on this lake, so I had to do it the hard way, just go fish and I told myself I would try help anyone that asked, just because this lake can be so fickle at times..

I guess you can say I'm giving back what the lake has given me.. Will do it as long as we don't get into that really nasty stuff like we did last year on this board.. Really I'm already blessed with my business and just want to help some folks and have some fun, the rest comes with hard work so I have found!!

Good Fishing Everyone..

Capt.Don, we need more great anglers like you who give back! Thanks for being who you are. I try to give back and show others as much as I can about the fishing world of Bass. I by no means rate up there with the pros, just taught myself everything that I know. Just keep on doing what you do best my friend and good fishing. :goodjob:

Bill -- maybe change your voice mail to say don't leave a message, call the lodge (and work in a dig on Verizon too)? And turn off the phone?

Phil's right -- texting is a great way to communicate. Better than e-mail in a lot of ways. I find myself doing it more and more. But, if I was out with a guide and he was texting all the time (or anything else but catering to my every whim  ), I'd wouldn't really care for it. To me it's not just bad guiding, it's bad manners.
