Members ksbass Posted June 3, 2010 Members Posted June 3, 2010 My son and I are headed to Norfork next week and plan to camp Wed through Sat below the dam. Seth asked for a DRC trip for his 14th b-day. Happy to oblidge! We also hope to fish the Norfork during no gen like last year. We'd also like to venture out and try the White. We've read about the Rim shoals water taxi and would like some more details. Where is this at and how do you set things up? Wade fishing along the white sounds great. Any other recommended spot for a father and son to hit? We've also read about Spring River and it sounds good too. How far away is it from Norfork dam? Is it canoe-friendly? Any other place close by? Warm water for smallies would be fun too. Thanks, Troy Check out our line of furled leaders at Dad and Em's Fishing Products!
Zack Hoyt Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Rim Shoals Resort does the water taxi service. http://www.rimshoals.com/dock%20services.htm As far as warm water.....Crooked Creek in on the outskirts of Flippin as well as the Buffalo River. Both are pretty canoe friendly. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I know Gary and have used the taxi for years. Not only put you in an area that has fish but recommend flies to use. He'll also tell you what to expect as far as generation. Call before you drive over to make sure someone is around to take you. The Spring is canoe friendly but I believe during the summer it's a party mecca. Not a good place for families. At least that's what I heard and maybe someone else can confirm or deny that. It takes about an hour to drive there from Quarry Park. Don't speed, they patrol the road over there pretty heavily. Snagged
Members ksbass Posted June 3, 2010 Author Members Posted June 3, 2010 Thanks guys. What are the shoals like? Is this wadable riffles and pools? Would we need our canoe? We'd probably fish this on thursday or friday. I'll give Gary a call and set something up. thanks, troy Check out our line of furled leaders at Dad and Em's Fishing Products!
grizwilson Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 What are the shoals like? just depends on generation, but one of the best places to fish in the world. Just talk to Gary he will hook you up. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Members tippett Posted June 8, 2010 Members Posted June 8, 2010 Yes Gary Flippin will hook you up on the Taxi, but I would expect some high water on the White. The Norfork you might get some low water opportunities. DRC, now thats the ticket for your boy ! Good Luck steve "Stinnetti" stinnett Spring Creek Outfitters www.stinnettispringcreekoutfitters.com
