I also feel it is only a small amount of cash to put out for something I very much enjoy. We enjoy 2 streams which are stocked frequently during the cooler months. I also fish the parks during the C & R season, so it is so much easier to just get it when I buy my regular license. Plus, if you happen to catch the next state or world record trout in Missouri it could come in handy.

Buy one, don't buy one. I won't lose sleep over it. Although, it is about the only money that we spend that we know where it's going.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

just talked to mdc to clarify you need a trout tag to fish for trout "period" weather you plan to keep or not so dont break the law by a permit.

I think you were misinformed.

From the MDC website:

Trout Fishing

Missouri has several types of trout fishing areas, each with its own special rules.

In addition to a fishing permit, you will need a trout permit to possess trout on all

waters outside of the trout parks and a daily tag while fishing in the trout parks.

Unless otherwise indicated, the season is open all year.

Agreed, but I'll step next door and ask the conservation agent in the morning...

Plus $7 is a very small fee to support an activity that you like to enjoy ---C&R or keeping either way, $7 bucks is cheap fun!

There are special areas like the upper part of Taneycomo where you have to have a trout stamp to fish- period. Don't know about Crane.

Someone may have already mentioned this -- I'll be honest I didn't wade through all the three pages in search of the nuggets of wisdom with the haystack of vitupuration, back stabbing & snide comments -- but one of the larger, strategic things we could do about bait fishing on/in Crane would be to teach some people of fly fish -- whether there or elsewhere. I know the area pretty well and it was probably kids -- but not definitely. The more people we can get to drink our Kool Aide the less likely we'll be to find worm containers.

Seriously Tim -- why not have a fly fishing clinic for kids in Crane?

Depending on the date, I'll bring my eight year old.
