mrgungho Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Hey all, I just got word that a new MO state record Striped Bass was caught last night. 58 LBS!!!! Shattering the old record of 51 LBS. When the angler was asked where he caught the fish he simply replied..."In the mouth" So I am not sure about that info yet. Just thought I'd try to break some exciting news. Gungho "Some go to church and think about fishing, others go fishing and think about God."
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 9, 2010 Root Admin Posted July 9, 2010 Any wagers where it was caught? Upper Bull Shoals? Possible.
flytyer57 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Any wagers where it was caught? Upper Bull Shoals? Possible. That could be. Most likely caught an Arkansas fish and took it back across the border to Missouri. The Arkansas record striper weighed 64 lbs 8 oz. Can't beat the Arkansas record, so take it to Missouri where he could get his name in the record books. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

gotmuddy Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 He could have caught it on the AR side or the MO side, how will they know? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
flytyer57 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Well, no matter where he caught it, it is a darn nice catch. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
stone9-7=2 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Nice fish. Not to hard to figure out the area he caught it in. I mean come on. He caught it at 9:45 pm & weighed it at the hatchery at 11:00 pm. Tell's me he caught it on the MO side on upper Bull....
ollie Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Sounds ligit to me. Either way that is one nice catch! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 10, 2010 Root Admin Posted July 10, 2010 I'm sure he was below the dam fishing for walleye. There are other places to fish from the bank but chances are he was up there throwing a big stick bait. Obviously he wasn't fishing for striper since he'd never caught one "in his life".
