flytyer57 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I copied this from www.1branson.com forum •The event, which organizers say will attract 6,000 people, Yeah. I'd still like some of what they (the organizers) been smokin'. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
eric1978 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Nelly was a big deal around here several years ago because he's from St. Louis. I can't stand his "music," and I don't pay attention to what he does, but I wouldn't doubt he could draw 6,000 stupid kids to a concert if it was advertised well.
gotmuddy Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 America is in cultural decline and has been for several decades. I find Branson to be pretty lame to begin with, so adding Nelly to the lineup doesn't change much for me, but it does seem totally incongruent. x2. I flat despise the shows there, the only show that was cool was kirby van birch(illusionist). We went with some friends. I love playing put-put golf...thats about it. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Gatorjet Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 I don't see a lot of the shows either. I like to spend mytime in Branson fishing. My wife likes the craft shops. We do see an ocasional show, and have SDC season passes. My comment about Branson is based on the content of Nelly's songs. Google Nelly lyrics. With a strong belief in the constitution, and freedom of speech, I'm not saying that his music should be banned. I am only saying that Branson is not the right place, and Thg Grand Palace is not the right venue. Especially for an outdoor concert of this type. If I had small children, and were staying at one of the many motels close to the Palace, I certainly would not want the mega-watt sound system blasting songs referring to women as my (synonym for female dogs, and garden implements), F-words ending in "a" and often preceeded with a reference to their "motha", and the "N" word ending with an a. If Branson had not fought so hard to stop a Casino in Rockaway Beach, that would have been a perfect location for this type of entertainment. As it is, I want to see the Branson area proper to keep it's family entertainment immage. One other point. I am sure if this event were to draw the croud that they claim, The Branson police department will need every available police officer they have, along with Fire & Rescue needing to be ready for any emergency. With the date for the concert to be the same as the Branson Guns & Hoses tournament, alot of first responders are not going to be well rested for emergency. Great timing right? Real men go propless!
Outside Bend Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Who knows, maybe Nelly's the next country crossover sensation, like Hoo....I mean, Darius Rucker. <{{{><
Gatorjet Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Now, read between the lines! According to the KY3 report, the promoters claim the event will attract 6000 people. 6000 people inside a 1000 seat theater. This is really starting to sound fishy! OK, my bad. The oficial website for the GP says it will seat 4000 comforitably. The also have postponed ticket sales until July 19 because it has been moved inside. Still on, but not outdoors. That will solve a lot of problems. Now it's there problem when as in many, many cases the fans at their Rap concert trash the venue! Gonna be interesting! Real men go propless!
patfish Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Now it's their problem when as in many, many cases the fans at their Rap concert trash the venue! I'm not sticking up for any fan of any kind of "entertainment", but there have been venues trashed by all types of crowds. Just sayin....

True, but this particular genre has had a history of way more problems than others. It all remains to be seen. I'll be there that weekend for the Guns and Hoses Tournament, so I'll see first hand. Real men go propless!

I'll be there that weekend for the Guns and Hoses Tournament, so I'll see first hand. I am not defending rap music, but metal people have been trashing venues for DECADES. Besides, the type of people who are gonna come to branson aren't going to be the venue trashing people. It will be teenage white kids trying to get over their white person guilt. I suffer from no such affliction. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I guess that if they (fans of Nelly) tear up the town, then Branson will have learned their lesson and stick to shows like Yakov where the audience is more or less falling asleep instead of getting rowdy. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
