Last Tuesday, July 20, I did the 5 mile float from Merrill Horse down to Browns Ford Access on the Big River..I was alone for this float and got an early start at 5:30am. Sometime that day my truck was broken into and some things were stolen. I guess it could have been worse. These jack o's did not break the window of my truck. They must have pried out the glass enough to somehow get the rear door unlocked..There are marks on the weatherstripping but no major damage..

I have parked my truck at many ramps/accesses over the years but this is a first for me..

The trip was not very productive. I caught 14 bass total, only 3 were kentuckies, the rest smallmouth. The first fish of the day was also the biggest, a 14 1/2" smallie on a Pop R.

Pretty sad that you cannot park a vehicle for a day of fun on the water and not have to worry about some idiot that doesn't want to work for the things they desire! Sorry to hear about your bad fortune.

You really have to careful at some of those ramps! I've had them steal my trailer plates with a 2 year sticker, I keep it in my truck now.

if I suspect my vehicle might be broken into I just take everything out that I don't want to part with and leave it unlocked. at least I won't have a broken window while they figure out nothing is in there worth taking.

G, that sucks!!! I agree with Mitch, I had my plates taken off my trailer there as well and my truck was broken into @ Brown's Ford. I have a sign I put in my window some think it is stupid but no one break in since I have been putting in the truck. It says this...C&C permit owner, break in at your own risk, I am watching you. I also leave the truck unlocked with nothing in it and carry a low comp deductble on my insurance. I know it sounds stupid but what can you do with the meth heads today who are willing to do anything for money?????

I guess I better go check the trailer>>......Thankfully the plate is still on the trailer. They must have been in a hurry, there were several other things they should have stolen...Hey bigs, where did you come up with the sign??

In the future I will take everything out too....

I think the Jefferson County boat ramps would be prime places for a "BAIT" truck.

If I value something, I take it with me. I leave the truck unlocked. If I am lucky, Cooter and Scooter will figure there is no reason to break a window. However, I do not count on them to make wise decisions. If they could do that, they wouldn't be stealing from me.

Unfortunately you can't take a stereo system out of the vehicle every time you park at an access. I expect it to be stolen eventually, but I'm not gonna stop fishing over it. Oh, and for you meth-head lurkers, I drive an orange VW Beetle with big pink flowers on it.
