G-ROD Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 You guys live too far away. I live close enough that I am in there every few days and over the years I have overstocked to the point that the last several times in the store I haven't been able to find anything to spend money on at all. LOL!! me too -------------------- Mo Smallmouth Hunter Gary
Members Indiana Trout Posted August 2, 2010 Members Posted August 2, 2010 Got that same problem LOL! I'll have to be disciplined and go to the outlet store first, this time! Daddy needs some new bassin' gear. Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. --Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A. Chief Grey Bear Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I too always it the Outlet store first. I guess I am just a tightwad, the most I ever spent was $60. Most the time I spend less than $20. You live too close. Make it a 3 hour drive and you won't be there every day. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I went to Cabela's in KC this weekend. Got out of there for about $4. On a side note, I hit BPS about 3 or 4 times a year. I think I have only been there once so far this year. G-ROD Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The St. Charles BP doesn't have a "outlet store"..If it did I would spend a helluva lot less! -------------------- Mo Smallmouth Hunter Gary

Not to make anyone mad, but, I have the best wife in the world. We stoppped in BPS with me telling my wife that I only needed a new cammie jacket and pants for a west Texas hunting trip. Well I'll be darned, the girl knows about shopping and putting outfits together! We walked out with new cammie pants, shirt, matching tee shirts in both long and short sleeve, suspenders, belt, hat and a jacket. I keep telling her that the ensamble paid off because we did really well hunting. Lot's of deer, rams, boars and rattlers. It's all about positioning your needs and keeping mamma involved my friends. May god bless the wives. Semper Fi and keep up the fishing and hunting.

I been to BPS twice this year. Both times went with less than $50. Geez I wish I were a rich man every time I went there. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I'm not local to Springfield but we have the store in Broken Arrow and I'm usually there at least once a week. Twice a week if I'm not fishing on the weekends. Usually have my daughter with me so we always hit up the fly fishing, waterfowl, and camping section. Along with a stop in the kids section. Plus we usually take at least 3-5 rides up and down the elevator...she loves the dang thing. I usually spend about $50 in there on a random trip...my wife has come to accept it. The same goes for our local fly shop here in Tulsa (D&B Outfitters). Went to Academy tonight to kill some time and had talk myself out of a skeet thrower....TWICE! But I'm probably going to go back and buy it tomorrow after further consideration Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
gotmuddy Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 I always have my wife with me when I go to BPS. I found another downside to having the biggest bass fishing store close by: There is no bigger place to go. When I was a teenager and fishing I always wanted to go to BPS but there wasn't one within 6hrs of me so I never went. I do wish they carried bagley crankbaits in springfield. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
