skeeter Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Has anyone else been lucky enough to see/hear the two A-10's flying over Table Rock this week ? Man, these guys are LOW ! They came up the White River yesterday then flew up Big Indian Creek arm following the main lake and creek turn by turn by making sharp turns of their own banking the two aircraft completely on their side and pullling what must be high "G" turns. Wish I had some advance warning of their fly-bys so I could shoot some video of them. Awesome pilots ! Have no idea where they are based but suspect the Arkansas Air National Guard unit in Ft. Smith may be their base.

Guest csfishinfool Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Glad somebody is enjoying it, that's our tax dollars at work. If your gonna have them might as well fly em. Those things are sick, I've seen them at Stockton quite a few times. Close enough that you can see the pilot when they bank.
Hunter91 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I have seen them at Stockton. Love to watch em. I grew up in Bossier City La where they have a wing of them stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. When I go back I love watching them and the B52 fly.
troutfiend1985 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Maybe Whiteman in Warrensburg? I used to see them all the time when I was at CMSU. I've also seen them in KC. Cool planes though, would hate to seem them through the scope of a tank. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
redbud Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Yes I have seen them.Last year on more than one occasion, down near Roaring River .I feel real safe here and love a personal flyover.USA.
dwiebenga Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 In the summer of 2009, I was with Babler and we were chased out of the Kings River area by a pair of A-10s. It was really cool. I also found out from a guy that flies them out of Whiteman...Our boats make great targets to practice "lock-ons". I'm glad I could be of service to my country.
T-RockJaws Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 That doesn't sound to me like the best way to practice... Hope they don't have any live amo!!!

I was on stockton last summer one afternoon and they buzzed our boat. It was crazy because we had no idea they were coming. We looked up and they came within about 100 ft of out boat VERY low and then hit the afterburner. I was surprised they were given clerance to fly that low over the lake, especially in full aafterburner. They were super loud but didn't bother us.
johnboy2bfishin Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 THOSE A-10'S ARE PROBABLY OUT OF FT WOOD. I HAVE WORKED IN THE PAST THERE BUILDING FENCE FOR VARIOUS RANGES AND THEY FLY EVERY DAY UP THERE. IT UNREAL WHEN THEY ARE ON THE SHOOTING RANGE AND LET THAT 30 CAL. NOSE GUN GO OFF. 100 ROUNDS PER SECOND. AND THEY ARE REALLY FUN TO WATCH. THEY ARE REALLY AGILE. THEY ARE ALLOWED TO FLY THAT LOW FOR TRAINING ALL OVER THE STATE AS LONG AS IT IS NOT AROUND A METRO AREA. I HVE SEEN THEM ON BULL SHOALS AND EVEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO THE B-2 STEALTH. NOW THAT IS A BAD @## PLANE.
