Cool article. Thanks for posting it. Do you know what year it was written, and what magazine did you find it in?

I did a quick google sirch and came up with some info. This was likely published in the Missouri conservationalist between 1945 and 1953.

Very interesting read, especially since I floated through the narrows today in the riverboat.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

That sounds about right, got muddy. I sent a message to my uncle who gave me the article, so will find out more later. I think it was in a little book called the Ford's Reader, does that sound right?

I enjoyed reading this. I would like to know more about the Caldwell Cable Ferry that uses the current as power.

I should have some info about it, but am not sure where. My ancestors ran it till they built the Highway 142 bridge. It wasn't all that different than the ferry at Akers.

Thats an interesting article, I always wondered what the Narrows purpose was. I always assumed it was a campground of some sort long ago. I do remember a business of sorts on the south side of the road. I assume the ferry crossed it somewhere near 142?

I have searched for history on the 11pt but never seem to come up with much. Would like to see a map with the old ghost towns of the 1800's on it and try to find them now. I have visited most of the old mills and springs, but not many of the caves yet. It is a wonderful place with a wonderful history.
