I invited a person to go fishing with me yesturday. I said "I leave the house at 7am, just after I get the kids on the bus." The person was 1 hour late at getting to my house...and unprepared to hit the water....we had to spool new line on his reel.

I was so frustrated by this that I am now making it my personal rule....If your not there on time; I leave and go fishing.

With that being said..this person just overslept. He did not have a flat, or get lost or whatever.

How do you guys handle the late arrivals? Just curious...

There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit

Leave without him and don't invite him again.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Just have another cup of coffee and chill. You're just jealous because you didn't have anything more desirable to do that night, besides sleep.

:=D:

I'm just ribbin' ya....cuz I'm one of those guys :P I stopped fishing "on a schedule" after I hit 45.

I would have had my gear in order though, he coulda changed out his darn line on the way to the river/lake.

So once you finally got out there, how was the fishing ?

To this day I get as excited as when I was a kid to go fishing. So if I am planning on a sunrise at 5am I wake up at 3am and can't get back to sleep. Some people just don't look at it the same way.

Don't sweat it. Some of us are a little more devoted than others.

I think different circumstances different action. I had that problem with my son so I finally told him what time I was leaving if he wanted a ride get here before that. He didn't believe me he pulled in the drive while I was pulling out, made him follow me to the lake. Now he's punctual!

I have always avoided the problem by telling the person to just meet me where we plan to fish. It's simple for me, because a boat is never involved, only wade fishing. This way you can fish while you wait and just let the people show up on their own schedule. I'm not a very good babysitter, so most do not ask for a return visit.

I call their cell and tell them that I am going to wait 15 minutes past the agreed upon meet time to see if I hear from them. If they call, I wait. No big deal. If they don't call, I go. No big deal. I always pad my meet time with someone new to account for this.

It's not really that big of a deal to me with fishing. Putting out a 200 decoy field spread for geese and gettting 5 layout blinds grassed up in time for shooting hours? That's a different deal. I tell them up front what time I'm leaving and if they aren't there, I'll leave without them.

Are you kidding me!!!! normally I'm so fucking excited about going I can't really sleep the night before. If you say 5:00am I'll be ready at 4:00am, I'm like Trav. Each day on the water is another chance I get to count my blessings and feel whole again, I relish every second whether the fishing is good or not.Now back in the 80's when I was getting hammered all the time there were a few times I was to drunk in the morning to fully function but not anymore.I love everything about it way too much.

I hate being late to anything, but especially when it comes to fishing, and I expect whoever fishes with me to be on time. If they aren't, they better have a real good reason, or I won't fish with them next time. The other thing that bugs me is when the partner waits until we get on the water, and then says he has to be home at a certain time. Tell me up front if you don't have the whole day and half the night, because then I can plan the trip around it (or tell you that you can't do this trip within that time limit).
