3inonegod, you've been a member since May 2009 and have a total of 19 posts. Doesn't sound like you're sharing much info yourself.

But what he does share has been really negative if that helps.

I want to say sorry for any that I offended. I have only made it down to table rock to fish 4 times in the last few years. I have posted 19 posts. I saw the post out there and did not see any response. What I meant by folks do not respond is that I do not any of you stating where the thermocline is currently. I do not see any of you folks stating if there is a top water bite early and late in the day. It is the usual drop shot advise. I do not know about stockjockey but I do not get out enough to have mastered drop shot, not do I have sufficient electronics. I felt bad for the chap that his post was out there and no singe person gave any advice on what to do. I do know that table rock is the hardest lake I have ever fished. A good day could be 5 fish for the average person.

Did not mean to get so long winded.

Sorry for upsetting any of you. I'm sure that you all are great people.

Sincerely,

Greg

Much is made about the thermocline for obvious reasons. It is usually right below where the fish stack up. It is not a static thing. It is different depths, depending on what part of the lake, how much rain, if the dam pulling water, night temps, day temps and so on. Generally, if they are pulling fish at 55 feet suspended in 110 feet, then the thermocline is just below 55 somewhere. Of course....I could be wrong.

I fished without any electronics at all the first few years and we used to count down our line and fish up from there until we started getting hits. It has to be a real challenge without electronics, especially if you have fished with them.

If I remember right....weren't you looking for walleye the last time you were down? The only reason I ask is there are fewer walleye fisherman on the forum than bass and crappie. Sometimes the info is a little thinner in that area. Either way....you are part of the old boys club now my brothjer!

I agree with techno....your in the club now, but the key is to research. I look at all the current information and then I will also go back to last year and the year before. There is quite an archive of fishing information. The key for me has always been RESEARCH!!! Greg, I wish you all the best, and keep at it!

Ive been coming to TR for the last 8 years, the first couple years it was really tough catching anything other then bluegills... then I found this forum and started reading, and then read some more. Thanks to the fine folks (regulars and guides) that post reports, tips and techniques, Now I can go and catch some fish! Every year it gets better and better. Of course I also booked a couple of guide trips which also helped.

Cant get any better TR fishing advice than this place :goodjob:

I did not mean to start a fight, was just looking for some help.

I have a specific question for electronics. I just installed a humminbird 998c on the front of my boat and have a humminbird 898c at the steering wheel. I also have a 797c on the steering wheel so I can get depth when driving. (If anyone is interested in buying the 797c please let me know) The transducer for the 989c is a trolling motor transducer that I swapped with humminbird. The transducer for the 898c is on the transom, and is the one that came with the unit.

What settings should I have for the following situations:

on the steering wheel when cruising past a bank to get what is under the water.

On the bow when fishing the bank with the trolling motor.

and, on the bow when I am trying to drop shot.

I would appreciate any help I could get.

Thanks,

Please PM me with and details. I will be fishing there in 10 days. Thanks Again.....

I know Don House and Doug Vahrenberg are a couple of Humminbird guru's on the boards here; may not hurt to shoot them an IM too. ;)

Is you 797 an internal or external gps antenna. I currently have one 797 and might really like to add another. TR
