jdmidwest Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 The best way is to get a collection permit, a shocking system, and hit the streams. We did that for a grad project on the Whitewater River system, it was amazing the diversity on it from its start to its finish, we went from cool water fishes to lowland fishes, all within a 30 minute drive. Are you personally wanting to take pics of each fish or do you just need pics? I googled some of the ones I had not heard of and found quite a bit of info and pics. drew03cmc Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 What about the Ouachita Bass??? Plus we can knock out a lot of these fish later this year or next if you want to. I added the Ouachita Bass and I am up for knocking out as many as possible whenever. I will take care of the Kansas fish I can find in streams around here soon. I have already taken care of one of them now that I go through my photobucket account. I will be floating with you and KC soon so one or a couple of them will be taken off as well. McClane's Field Guide to Freshwater Fishes, but am almost clueless about where to find a couple of them. Andy
Chief Grey Bear Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I will be floating with you and KC soon so one or a couple of them will be taken off as well. You know, another challenge that I have thought about but, not done yet, is catching a Neosho Smallmouth in each of the 4-states that they exsist in. I have already caught them in every county in Missouri that inhabit. You want to try it???? Of course you know, we could also do a Neosho Grand Slam and try to catch one in each state on the same day!!!!!!!!! Some of them are not really Game Species, you would have trouble catching them on a hook unless you were targeting them. They exist in Arkansas too I suppose...This could be fun. Let's plan this for this spring Chief. JD- I am aware that in most states the smaller sunfish are not game fish. You can still gain information about their native range and what not from the local fisheries biologists and catch them all on 1/32 Panther Martins fished down and across in a small creek. Have you ever caught a non-game fish by accident? Carp, drum, longear sunfish, etc? Andy

drew03cmc Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 I told my wife about our float coming up and she was excited for me...or it was excited for me to get out of the house...either way, good for us! Andy
Ham Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 It is a long way off, but the Red River near Shreveport has a lot of the fish you are looking to catch and photograph. It is LOADED with Spotted Sunfish along the rip rap. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
drew03cmc Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 I wouldn't have thought of that Ham. Thanks for adding a place to the list. Andy
