duckydoty Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I have had several request for my #36 Pecker Gnat tied with Musk Ox testical hair. I have about a dozen at the moment so I guess I better get busy! I was fishing with size 32 beaver tail midges at RR yesterday and they were just a little too big. I might have to get some of those #36 hooks from you Chief, but I might need to get a little more tail first. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. KATroutman13 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Honestly, I have always favored dry flies during the winter at Taneycomo. I love throwing bushy EHC's in a 12 or 14. I'll switch between tan, black, dark brown, etc. I really like it because the fish seem very aggressive and you can catch them in pretty much any riffle. When they shut down, move to the next riffle and keep moving. Geez, I guess it's been two years ago now, but I hooked into a monster of a rainbow that came out of the depths up by the hatchery. That was incredible.
Members jasperflyfisher Posted November 3, 2010 Members Posted November 3, 2010 I find a Ringo Bugger to be quite effective during C&R. I would edit my post, but that is pretty darn funny!!!!
Ill Trout Bum Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 My C & R box all loaded up and ready to go!! Scott
Members yummysmokedham Posted November 8, 2010 Members Posted November 8, 2010 Glo-Balls and Elk Hair Caddis is where it's at boys, might throw a olive or white streamer and wollybugger on occasion as well.
Idylwilde Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Size 16,18,or 20 hook, Tungsten bead peacock, Peacock herl bright green,June Bug Fashabou, Danville flat waxed thread, ultra wire small copper. I have found this to be a great little fly in the fall in clear water. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
ollie Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 To each his own, but I'm tying Meat Candy for the bigger ones too! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Zach Bearden Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I plan on throwing sinkin leaders to keep the flies down while stripping through the holes and rolling the heaver flies along the bottom Polish nymphing style. It's fun to play with the bigguns like that. Everyone knows that "Polish Nymphing" is for the newbies. Man, you gotta step up to the big guys and get with the swiss nymphing! 17' Rods and 40' leaders! 15x tippet and size 4 nymphs. I'll show you next time we're together "Its clearly Bree time baby!"
