Members Troutguy Posted November 6, 2011 Author Members Posted November 6, 2011 There is one last option that I may go with... marine plywood sides instead of the 16' boards.
gotmuddy Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 they will be stronger anyways. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Members Troutguy Posted January 2, 2012 Author Members Posted January 2, 2012 At last, I cut out a full-size pattern of the boat today... both ends, sides and rocker on the sides. Now, as soon as the marine plywood arrives next week all I have to do is trace it onto the wood and get my boat built. I heard about a fine smallmouth river on this board... I can't wait to use the new boat on it this spring!
lee G. Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Glad to see things working for you Trout guy. Keep us posted!

Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Here is a link on youtube that shows how they built a flat bottom. It is quite lenghthy, and detailed. I plan on using this idea to make a boat out of some scrap plywood that I have aquired. I will be using some fiberglass resin on the outside, I would like to paint it also. My question is can I put paint on top of the resin? Does anyone have experience? I guess I could as you paint a car after glassing it..... I plan on using some oops paint from the local box hardware. I know that using marine grade plywood will be better quality and last longer, but this is more of a "see if I can do it" project. , here is another cool idea I have found on youtube, The videdo really starts about 2:30. Read the description. Kinda neat to find this showing some local folks on the tube. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Flysmallie Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 My question is can I put paint on top of the resin? Does anyone have experience? Yes you can. Sand it first and you will have no problems.
Members Troutguy Posted January 11, 2012 Author Members Posted January 11, 2012 I have my bow and transom completed and waiting for the marine plywood now. Then I can get my first picture on here of the hull. Just found out the company didn't ship my plywood as promised, so another week to get it here.
