Members cabsav Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 My friend tried to get him out from under the cabin but he was too darn strong... put a bullet in it, let him take his final nap, and he will come out just fine.
Members Moanzie Posted January 3, 2011 Members Posted January 3, 2011 Not too far ...... Mountain lion verified in Platte County This was the 11th verified sighting of a mountain lion in Missouri since 1994. A mountain lion was caught on camera in southern Platte County, the Missouri Department of Conservation. This is only the 11th time that Missouri officials have verified a mountain lion sighting since 1994, though the department receives several reports in a normal year. A scientist with the Mountain Lion Response Team found claw marks and hair samples Tuesday in the tree where the mountain lion was spotted. Picture attached Click Here For More
ColdWaterFshr Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Yeah, I've seen the cats. Mostly in summer, sunning themselves on cheap K-mart vinyl lawn chairs, half-submerged in the river, lathered in Hawaiian Tropic, their bodies glistening. One time, near Cedar Grove, I paddled a little to close to make sure what I was seeing wasn't silicone. But instead I saw a Woody Wood Pecker tattoo on a not so young left breast. There was a 12 gauge right by their cooler. I muttered something inappropriate right before I saw the weapon and Woody, and like a wood duck, I flushed hurriedly downriver scared by what I had seen.
MstStudent10 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I live in Fair Grove, MO and seen a mountain lion chasing a small dog or something by my house. This was back around 2001, around that time there were a few sightings around Buffalo, MO about 15 miles to the north. Right after I seen it chase the small animal into the woods I heard a screeching snarling sound, I guess it caught what it was chasing... To this day my dad laughs at me about it but there was no mistaking it it was a mountain lion. Set the hook first, ask questions later...

I hear that sometimes they span out quite a ways from Springfield, where the most dense populations can be found. They are drawn here by the large cub populations and bountiful supplies of Hawaiian Tropic paired with tanning salons to get them through the sometimes long and harsh Missouri winters. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

Wayne SW/MO Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I've seen cat tracks several times in snow and mud and those appear to be pointed to me. All the tracks I've seen are well rounded and have no hint of claws unless they really need traction. I've seen claw marks once, and that was where one was running and hit shallow mud over hard pan. Tracks of a cat mean little to nothing on their own. Young toms are always pushed out of the area by there daddy and they can wander for months or years looking for a place that will provide them plenty of venison. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
