jdmidwest Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Looks like we are going to have new permits this year. The Yellow permits are going to be phased out, the new ones will be printed on regular paper and can be saved for reprints if you buy online. The cost savings for the Department is substantial. You will have to laminate or protect them in some way. Transport tags will have to be tied or wired on turkeys and deer. Go wet wading and get your permit wet, stopped by the game warden, get a ticket and lose your gear. All because the state of MO wants to save a few bucks. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
fishinwrench Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 My original thought was... "oh cool, now I can keep a copy in each of my waist packs, and a copy in each boat and won't have to get undressed to get to my wallet if checked". Then I read this: additional copies of a permit DO NOT provide additional valid permits for the buyer Then I think, "if I print it out on my own PC printer, then make a couple of copys...how is a field agent gonna be able to tell it is not the original ? Field polygraphs ? What this tells Me is that they are not going to be checking permits very often anymore. Not sure where the "savings" is coming from here. I bought my last few permits online and they were mailed to me...but I DID pay additional postage, and I'm sure the cost of the yellow vinyl was considered in the permit fee. What-ever.
denjac Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 We lost a tag this year dragging a deer out. Wish they would go back to those steel bands. Of course that would cost money. Wheatenheimer Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I was bummed when they did away with the actual trout "stamp". Now we are going to have to carry around sheet of flimsy paper. What is next? Paperless permits? You will show a picture of your permit to the agent on your smart phone! Aye yaigh yaigh.......
eric1978 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Oh quit your whining. Go to Kinkos and get it laminated for a buck. I thought we all wanted our governments to stop wasting money?

Nah, EVENTUALLY they will just scan the chip that was implanted at the base of your skull upon birth Oh quit your whining. Go to Kinkos and get it laminated for a buck. I thought we all wanted our governments to stop wasting money? No, we just want them to spend the money they take from us in a reasonable manner. I'd also prefer the corner store quit giving me 8 inch long paper reciepts for a soda and a pack of cigs... and just drop the markup a few cents. Not complaining about the cost of a fishing/hunting permit (i'd pay it if it was 100.00/year) but this seems kinda gay, and it's something new to piss and moan about.
Guest Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I don't care what color they are, at least I won't have to drive around looking for a place to buy one. I hate having to walk into a wally world just to pick up a fishing license. Illinois sells them online, along with quite a few other states and I don't think it gives them any less incentive to check licenses. Throw it in a ziploc bag and toss it in the tackle box.
Danoinark Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 What's important is the conservation permit number you are assigned. Its attached to your ID, whether a state drivers license or state ID card. He can check via computer or to his radio dispatch whether you have one or not. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Justin Spencer Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Halleluyah! I spend $2 every time I go fishing on a different river because I have too many pockets on waders, vest, fly bag, etc, and can never put my hands on my license. Just gave Sloss $2 last week when I went over to the Point. Now I can just print out a pile of them and not worry about it. Finally some streamlining of govt. spending that makes sense. I think I'll buy some yellow paper with a sticky back to print it on to remind me of the good ol' days.
