Wayne SW/MO Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Better hope it doesn't melt too fast. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Justin Spencer Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Wow, much adoo about nothing down here(I probably just jinxed us). Very little ice on trees and can still see the grass through the snow and sleet. Wind and cold going to be as advertised I'm afraid. Everyone who got hit hard be safe and tie up a bunch of flies. Is the snow that deep? I have already gave up on Leonard picking us up. Did you hear about I44 shut down on the west bound side, from springfield to the ok line? According to reports, oklahoma shut it down, and the traffic is backed up to Joplin. MSHP is not sure when it will reopen. Getting motorists off the highway and to shelter is a major undertaking.
jdmidwest Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 We were 7 degrees away from any ice, just rained all day. Took a trip on company business, left town at 37, hit ice in trees at 34 about 20 miles out, 5 miles later 32 and icy roads. Turned around and made other rounds. Other salesman went to the bootheel and run into temps in the 40's. Looks like we will just get a whiff tonite. Just now dropped to freezing. woodman Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Well I-70 is shut down from K.C. to St.L. I hear they have 21'' in Warnsberg with up to 10' drifts. I'll just go shovel a path to the shop tomorrow to work on the kayak http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/

awhuber Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 1/8 of ice, 2 or so inches of sleet and a little snow here.
Al Agnew Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Had freezing rain here all day but it was light...what happened to those freezing thundershowers and thunder-snow we were supposed to get? Trees are iced up but so far not bad enough to bring them down. Had sleet along with the freezing rain later in the day, now have about an inch or maybe a bit more of sleety ice on the ground. It was slushy all day but is frozen pretty solid now. Wife and I got out this evening, went down the highway for a few miles to her brother's to work up a bunch of venison, grind deerburgers, and get everything vacuum packed. Lights flickered a few times but never went out. Looks like it's mostly over here except for the cold. We were worried about the ice shutting down the electric so we filled up a bunch of buckets and coolers with water because we depend upon well water, but we have LP fireplaces that don't require electricity and a LP stove, so we weren't too worried.
