flytyer57 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 It never makes sense to me why people pay good money for something and then are just to lazy to take care of it. Ya ain't a real hillbilly if'n yer belongin's look bran' new. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Gary Lange Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well I guess I ain't never gonna be no Hillbilly cause I likes to take care of what I spend my good money on. Seen plenty of them good old boys with some fancy rigs that shine from bow to stern light. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

Gary Lange Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well I guess I haven't changed or aged much because I always took good care of my stuff. I guess it is pride in ownership or just having to work hard for what I got. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
flytyer57 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Seen plenty of them good old boys with some fancy rigs that shine from bow to stern light. Naw. Them's just rednecks. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Members Tom Tricamo Posted February 11, 2011 Members Posted February 11, 2011 Owning a boat is all about proper maintenance. I put Stabil and Quick Clean in ever tank of fuel. Change the water pump impeller at least every other year. Maintain the batteries by keeping proper fluid levels and keeping the charging system going. Washing and maintaining the hull with wax and cleaning the seats and carpet. They cost a lot of money to buy and I can't see them setting around with no cover and just getting wet and dirty. It is a lot like a house and I see people paying tons of hard earned money for things like a house, boat, truck, car or motorcycle and they neglect them all and let them got to pot. It never makes sense to me why people pay good money for something and then are just to lazy to take care of it. This man is talking truth! I'm hoping to acquire a boat in the next two-four years. Like cars (and just about every other mechanical device), a boat requires a certain maintenance regiment. It isn't a mystery. If you stick to the maintenance plan and maintain a clean and orderly boat, its going to start up every time and do what you need it to do (read: get you to where the fish are biting!). By the by, I'm 28 and firm believer in this MO. Hell, I have two cars that are over 100k miles that sound like well oiled sewing machines because of this mantra. Of course, my father may be Gary's age and has instilled this discipline within my brothers and I. My only concern would be buying a boat used that someone has neglected.
