Wow, you can do Morse Code with your pistola???

Three shots in a row is a sign of distress. Repeated over and over every so often should draw some attention. You can carry a few hundred rounds of 22lr in a fishing vest. And it is more functional, better than tossing a cell phone at a snake.

Cell phones have been pretty worthless in most places I go, until the cursed tower on the upper current. When I am in a boat in a lake I will carry it along and play some mp3's.

I didn't realize you could only bring along one or the other.. Pistol for protection (though shooting snakes is more target practice than protection) and a cell for communication..

Nope, too busy answering the cell phone.

Every time I've been in the woods and hear 3shots in a row, first thing that comes to my mind is.....they missed, especially when out duck hunting.

When guiding in Alaska last year during King Salmon season, I had a guest that brought his cell phone so he could play a fishing game in the slack time between bites while back trolling. I thought it was rather amuzing that he was getting just as excited about playing the game as when we were really catching real fish.

Hey, while I am thinking about it, check your PM. I have tried twice, and it shows that you are unable to recieve. I sent a msg, for you, to DD's msg board.

He was way better at the game. Wasn't paying attention to his rod and missed several bites.

I just cleared my pm box. Had fifty messages in it. I'll have to get her to log in to get the message.

Out in Wyoming I met a guide who was considering moving his elk camp or going out of business entirely. It was just getting too hard to convince folks to spend 4 or 5 days in the backcountry without cell service

I've killed far too many phones on the river and in the woods to trust myself bringing them along any more. Most of the places I fish in Missouri are close enough to help that spending a long time without seeing someone isn't likely, and most of the places I fish elsewhere are so remote a cellphone is of no use. Then again, I'm also young and invincible :D
