Well they run the Jets up the river, stirs it up fish bite like Gang Busters until in settles.Same thing.

oneshot

I have noticed on Taneycomo that it doesn't matter. Prop, or jet, when a boat goes by there is a bit of increase in the bite. Sometimes a lot, some times not so much. I guess anything that disturbs the water can increase the feeding of trout.

Except when they ramp up generation like on the White or Norfork. They might start feeding for a short time, but when it starts to really come up, it shuts 'em off.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Shuffling to me is the same thing as chumming. Isn't chumming illegal in MO for trout?? Basically it would boil down to, to much judgement on the agents part. Even if they did pass a law against shuffling it would be a hard case to prove and uphold. JMO

Ok then, so you are telling me that I could go to the outlets and chum with trout pellets and fish with a pellet fly?? Not that I would, but that is crazy. I could have swore that I read in the code book that chumming was illegal in MO for fishing of game fish.

One interesting thing I've noticed is that shuffling works best in very heavily pressured waters. The fish get accustomed to anglers wading and stirring up stuff to eat, and stack up below them because it's such a common thing. In "wilder" streams, the fish are more scared of the noise and commotion and often won't get close enough to a wading angler to benefit from the bugs the angler dislodges. I've seen people shuffling in the riffles on the spring creeks in Montana, and have been tempted to fish below my own feet when I see trout stacking up below me (but I don't). But on the Yellowstone, Boulder, and Madison rivers that I fish out there, very seldom will you catch fish right below you.

It is illegal to "chum" for trout in the trout parks, I assume it is the same for the streams.

Taney's not a trout park.

We've covered this a dozen times in the past. I've called the local agent - it's been a number of years ago (the forum is over 5 years old) and he assured me that it is legal to chum anywhere on Taneycomo.
