flytyer57 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I still fished there until the the late 70s when I found a body and decided there was to much wild life in the park. Care to explain this a little more? You found a body? I assume you mean a dead human. too much wildlife? I assume you are talking about inhumane activity? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I play golf in the Park all the time and one of my buddys works for the Park. They have redone all the canals and lakes but unfortunetly they drained them for the work. They have all the canals running water like the old days but it will be a while before bass return. They stock cats, and trout in the winter. I was playing in the City Championship a couple years ago and a girl comes down the cart path. I said do you know your on a golf course? She says "no, but do you want to pary with me?" The Park has all kinds of wildlife!!! SIO3

The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
exiledguide Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Care to explain this a little more? You found a body? I assume you mean a dead human. too much wildlife? I assume you are talking about inhumane activity? He was a murder victim. The wildlife were the drug dealers and other criminals. It wasn't too long after this they closed the park at night unless you were going to the Muny or some other approved function. I guess they still have hours that the park is closed. After I made the post I called the MDC Forest Park office to find out about fishing there. Well it seems that you can fish in Jefferson Lake No where else in the park. I guess those bass are still feeding on those crawfish. I guess this is the quality fishing MDC and the city of St Louis were talking about when they used our tax money to rebuild these lagoons and the old riverbed to make quality urban fishing. Fortunatly when we in St Louis last September for my wifes 50th class reunion we ran out of time before we were going to catch a few bass like we had 40 years ago. I would have been really pissed. Why is it people who fish are treated like second class citizens?

A lot of times when they've renovated a pond or lake, they close fishing for a while just to allow the new fishery to become established. <{{{><
stlfisher Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 There are a few fish in Jefferson Lake...even an occasional nice bass or two. Mostly a catfish (summer) and trout (winter) lake. Never seen a Coyote, but it wouldn't surprise me...hear a bunch of rumors of giant rats that run around the lake at night. Probably an urban legend but not gonna go and find out for myself. Seems like there is a lot more water that could be used for fishing purposes.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I told you I was playing in a golf tourney... The Post Dispatch ran a picture of a yote in Tower Grove Park last fall. Actually the park renovation was a private/public project called Forest Park forever. They did a great job on the golf courses and the club house bars are good too. I recommend CC when playing that track though, rough crowd. Pete
Gavin Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Jefferson gets fished allot, but I saw a few bobbers in the trees and some bait containers along the canals yesterday...Someone is fishing water other than Jefferson, and I didnt see any no fishing signs. Finding a body while fishing...that would creep me out... but that can be happen anywhere.
Justin Spencer Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 She says "no, but do you want to pary with me?" I think he's holding out on us, I for one want to know what parying is, I'm looking for a little something to spice things up.
