Larry Richards Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I read a article on the web about the effects of the earthquake and the export of products to the US from Japan. If you have any baits and tackle that you like from Japan you just might want to stock up NOW!.It may be a long time until they are back in the export business to the US.You might see baits like the Megabass 110's going for $100ea due to the shortage.
Members booger90 Posted March 15, 2011 Members Posted March 15, 2011 i didn't even think of that lucky craft is also made in japan.
Ham Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I was thinking the same thing Larry, but I hate to spend a bunch of money right now. I'm pretty well stocked up and the colder water period is drawing to a close. Hmmm. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Larry Richards Posted March 15, 2011 Author Posted March 15, 2011 i didn't even think of that lucky craft is also made in japan. Lucky Craft co. is in Japan but there baits are made in China Another thing is can the Tackle industry in Japan survive without being able to export for what may be a long time?
Members Kcnflman Posted March 15, 2011 Members Posted March 15, 2011 On a positive note, the new one's will glow in the dark!!
Guest Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I hope this doesn't come true. I'm gonna have to buy more baits from PRADCO, then. Which is no change anyways. You couldn't pry a $100 bill out of my hands for any lure, Japanese or otherwise.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Smalliebigs Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Larry, I'm going to try to be nice....but it's not easy. C'mon....you need to get serious. What positive impact is a bunch of fisherman from America buying a few lures going to do for Japan? This may turn out to be the worst natural disaster in the 21st century, and we are talking about buying some stupid bass lures to try to help them? Suggestion....Pick a good organization that has members who have dedicated their lives to helping in times like these, and send them just 10% of what you spent on fishing last year. That would be some realistic help. You need to invest in a fly rod and reel, and get out there for some real fishing. It's so much more fun landing a 5 lb. trout using a 2 lb test tippet, than it is to hook a 5 pound bass and wolf him in with 20 lb. test line. And while you are at it....take a son or daughter, or a grandkid with you. A boatload of fish is not even close to the value of one child's thrill when he catches a fish. Chambug How do you know he doesn't already take his kids or grandkids fishing on a regular basis?????? I don't even want to go into the argument of what is considered as real fishing....flyfishing vs fishing with a conventional rod n reel talk about opening a can of worms......sorry but real fishing to me is not standing next to some dork in a tailwater situation shoulder to shoulder but neither is siting in a beautiful cove in my boat trying to admire nature as a bunch of half cocked bass boats buzz from spot to spot with no regard for the waves they propel out towards anyone much less the noise......let's just not go there....leave Larry alone and go tie some nymphs and Larry will go spend $30 on a jerk bait.
FishinCricket Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Chambug, I think you are reading Larry's post wrong. I don't think he posted "stock up now" as a way to help the Japanese people in their plight.. I think he posted stock up now "or tomorrow you may not be able to buy your favorite (Japanese made) lure anymore"... Just clarifyin'... Oh and: And while you are at it....take a son or daughter, or a grandkid with you. A boatload of fish is not even close to the value of one child's thrill when he catches a fish. Agreed completely, my good man... You need to invest in a fly rod and reel, and get out there for some real fishing. It's so much more fun landing a 5 lb. trout using a 2 lb test tippet, than it is to hook a 5 pound bass and wolf him in with 20 lb. test line. Oh, puh-leeeeeze... Come off it, you sound like some kinda elitist dillhole when you say it like that.. Try "There's something magical about fishing with a fly rod that you just don't get until you experience it" or "you guys just dot know what your missing!" Just sayin'.... cricket.c21.com
