bobby b. Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Anybody be willing to share current info (last day or two) regarding the conditions on the James up near Ashercane or Blunk? water level? water clarity, water temp? whites biting yet? Thx Bob
duckydoty Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Phil and I fished there last evening. The whites are in Long Camp area right now. The river is up a little and the lake is down, so it was moving pretty good at Blunk. We could see about 1 1/2 foot into the water. Nice color though and the temp was about 53 degrees. Found most of the fish right up next to the bank if the faster water or in about 6 feet of water where it was slower. The crowds are not too bad yet but it should be thick with people and fish this weekend. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

Members Whistle Pig Posted March 19, 2011 Members Posted March 19, 2011 I fished from the bank at Galena, Walnut Springs, Cape Fair, and Flat Creek (Dry Camp?)today. Caught a couple of white bass in the Walnut Springs area. Also caught several short bass in the same area. (Find the floating logs and you'll find a bass or two.) Fishing has been good in the same area this spring, we have caught whites and crappie, but that was before the water got up. The river had better color up by Galena, but is still running fast. Nothing at Cape Fair. In fact, I thought the water looked more turbid there than anywhere. The water up Flat Creek looked the best. However, no fish. One of the guys on the bank was quite sure the fish were there...he said he had caught a limit of whites, 9 crappie and a couple of keeper bass the day before. I didn't realize the weather/front was coming in or I would have saved my gas...I've never had much luck fishing with low pressure. Anyway, good luck and safe boating.
Members nobutt56 Posted March 19, 2011 Members Posted March 19, 2011 a friend of mine said he caught 45 whites & 30 crappie ysterday(march 18) out of bridgeport on jigs. hes usually pretty honest. had his 3 girls with him. they caught their share he said.
