Trout Commander Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Do they have any universal type mounts that utilize your existing crossbars?? I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Gavin Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 These should work... add a bar, canoe brakets, & lock cores sold separately. http://www.yakima.com/shop/racksystems/factory-tracks-or-rails/railgrab
Al Agnew Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I don't know whether they are still available anywhere, but for a long time when I had minivans, I had a set of steel plates that acted like artificial rain gutters, which attached to the vehicle in between the roof and the base of the existing luggage racks. You just unbolted the luggage racks, put the steel plates on the roof where the luggage rack base footprints were (they had holes pre-drilled to match the bolt holes in the roof), then put the luggage rack bases on top and re-bolted using the same bolts. Then you could use the cheap, Quick-n-easy rack towers, which are built for cars with rain gutters (or get Yakima or Thule racks made for rain gutters). The Quick-n-easy racks were lots cheaper than Yakima or Thule racks, but you had to come up with your own cross bars and canoe brackets.
grizwilson Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Criket Gavin is correct. Those would attach to your rack. You can buy the yellow gas pipe and paint it for the cross bars and make any length you like. I have wrestled and made homemade deals for 25 years, bought my first set of yakima last year, (used) what was I waiting for SO much better. here is a used set. http://springfield.craigslist.org/spo/2287490575.html g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
