As far as small coolers go, I have an Igloo Maxcold 24, and I like it. The lid has a nice tight fit, and ice keeps for overnighter or two, unless its the middle of the summer, but then you can add some big chunks of ice and they last longer. Its suppose to keep ice for 3 days, but I find it really only keeps ice for 2, but thats pretty good for a small cooler.

Thanks Zack, I was looking for someone who had experience with the Fishpond and liked them enough to recommend.

the yeti coolers are by far, hands down, the absolute best coolers on the market. hence the price.

but for the budget minded outdoorsman, I would strongly suggest the Igloo MaxCold or the Marine series.

For you kayak fishermen, the igloo Ice Cube 14 Marine fits perfectly inside a milk crate! (although it won't hold a 2 ltr upright...)

the igloo maxcold and marine series are both very well insulated and priced within reach. my icecube 14 will keep soda cold with one bag of ice, all day, overnight and well into the next day, even inside a 100 degree+ car in the summer.

I intend to buy a 35qt yeti before summer time.

Nothing compares to a yeti, NOTHING.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Took a look in the garage just now...This one is still a favorite float cooler..wheels,handle, and the original drain plug, are long gone, but it fits my boat very well and keeps stuff cold if you use good ice management. I usually use two coolers for extended trips...one holds food that I'm not going use on the water...one for beverages, lunch, & snacks....

I've used a Rubbermaid for years. Mine is the old Gott design and I believe its 55 QTs.

It held ice for 2 1/2 days on a trip that started at 102F.

If you carry a big cooler you have clean water to work with.

I have a Yeti Tundra 65 and yes they are very sweet coolers but, I was one of the few people out there that dropped $300 on a cooler. It will keep ice for about 5 to 6 days....I can keep ice in it for much longer??? if I put water bottles with water 3/4 filled and frozen it there with. Frozen water bottles are a must if you intend on doing a long term float and camp.

Not really. While I agree that ice becomes drinking water in time, bottles frozen at home aren't as cold as the ice you get from a good vending box. A piece of dry ice will lengthen the life of a cooler filled with ice. All the old tricks work in the new insulation to extend their usefulness..

It's hard in my opinion to make a cooler work for day trips and multiple days trips. Any form of using one cooler for cool and another for storage will extend the life of ice in the storage unit.

Been using dry ice for a couple of years now it the really hot summer months. Don't have any problems keeping everything cold and I'm only using one cooler.
