Bill Babler Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Unbelieveable is the best way to put this. Launched at Viola at 6:15 in the AM. thermo. in the truck read 59 degree. Lowrance in the boat read a surface temp of 64 at the ramp. Motored around to Royal Point to pick up Ted and his Papa Dean. They were a bit late at the dock so I wacked 3 around their dock while I waited. All LM and all topwater. 13/14 inchers. This was going to be our pattern for the day. In 30 years, this is the most LM bass I have had to the boat in one day. Close to 70 fish.. Now the Caveate' only 4 keeps. The Kings is loaded and full of Buck bass on the banks. We did not have a female all day. The 4 keeps were two LM and 2 K's. Probably 12 pounds worth. Fish after fish on top. Working the surface chugger very slowly on mixed gravel and chunk. When the wind became extreme, the shaky head caught fish after fish. WMC cenipede up close to the bank worked very slowly would get you nipped big time. At 2:30 we froze out, still catching fish. Surface temp had dropped to 59 and air temp in the truck when I put the boat on the rack was 43. I was completely chilled to the bone, but reguardless of size, when you are around that many hungry bass on the Rock, it is a very special day. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dwiebenga Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Great Job! Can't wait...two weeks of work then 4 days of play!!
Guest Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Bill, I've had the same kinda problems with those males at Beaver. I was chunking a wart instead. Do you think a bomber long A waked on the surface would get bites?
Members Bimmer Posted April 16, 2011 Members Posted April 16, 2011 I've never been to Viola. What the best directions to the launch from Springfield? Temps are going to be around 40mph with a constant breeze early in the morning. Sounds like Kings River is a better put in and fish spot thsn KC. anyone care to give decent direction please? Thank you and BET of luck tomorrow to you all! ~David God is my Pilot! I'm just riding "shotgun".

Suppose you could ramble thru the north side and cut over to 39, but think it would be slower.

Members NuB2TR Posted April 16, 2011 Members Posted April 16, 2011 Viola dock is in Aunt's Creek.....
Members smokey Posted April 16, 2011 Members Posted April 16, 2011 I never see Lizards mentioned in any of the reports on here. Does anyone fish them here?
glennL Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 From Springfield, I usually come down 60 through Republic, then south on 39 down near Aurora. Viola is South of the Shell Knob Bridge about 5 miles. Glenn
