Members storkboy Posted May 15, 2011 Members Posted May 15, 2011 Went to Marble creek Recreastion Area over Mother's day, the water was higher than I have ever seen it in the 5 times I have been there. Maybe that is why I caught an 18" smallie by the shut in's near the bridge, caught one there last year too in a lot lower water. My girl caught two of the same size or bigger the next day by the other shut ins by best swimmng hole in missouri, there are also some excellent creek side camping. I usually don't give my favorite camping spots much less enjoy leaving big fish to get bigger to be caught by people I will never meet. But I hear a rumor that after this year the are closing it. So I am hoping to get some people down there paing the $8 a night fee, on the 30 well wooded, seperated spots, no running water, but the toilets are new and clean. good luck, and you're welcome.

jdmidwest Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 There is a new bunch of people managing it this year. It should get a little better. It is a great little creek, I stop there alot when I am in the area. Perryville Couple Take Over Management of Marble Creek. Geoff Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 this place is on my list of spots to hit this year. Hopefully it stays that way. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
Smalliebigs Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Marble is a gem!! the fishing use to be a little better and it can be a little hard to wade and access. There are alot of solid granite shut ins and pools that can be slick as cat sh** and if you ever wade above Marble Rec area be careful my buddy lives upstream from there and is a "Prater" waiting to happen.
Members storkboy Posted May 16, 2011 Author Members Posted May 16, 2011 cool on the 5 year contract, I wouldn't mind getting the next one. beatiful freaking place.
ColdWaterFshr Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 That creek almost kilt Paul Dallas and Hoff a few years ago. We fitted my Old Town canoe with a big center floatation bag and tried to run it when it was in flood. The rapids right below the bridge took us out. A previous run at a lower level had been a lot of fun, but my white water days are behind me.
exiledguide Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I love that creek, I will definitely be going back there soon. Wading can be a pain though, I almost split my elbow to the bone last trip. That granite is SLICK! Thats the place that started me wearing felt soled wading boots after I slipped and fractured my finger on the granite slab just below the bridge about 30 years ago. Iguess I fished Marble creek close to 20 years beautifull place I guess the smell of the pine trees was what I remember most. I may add that too my list.
