Patrick M Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I was wondering if anyone knew where in the Branson/ Springfield area Grass carp could be purchased in this area?
Mitch f Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I was wondering if anyone knew where in the Branson/ Springfield area Grass carp could be purchased in this area? In St. Louis you can buy live carp at the Asian market. I'm sure Springfield has one. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Kayser Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I think he's after triploids for aquatic vegetation control. And I think MDC sells them. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
jdmidwest Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Look up a local farmers supply store and ask them when fish day is. Around here, CO-OP Farm Store, MFA, Buccheits all have a fish truck in the spring and fall that comes with bass, catfish, bluegill, minnows, and grass carp. You take your own containers and buy what you want or you can make special arrangements for a big order. There should be several local fish hatcheries in your area. I think some are located near Lebanon or Salem. Or contact the local MDC and ask them about pond stocking programs. Whoever you get will be able to tell you where to buy fish in your area. flytyer57 Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I was wondering if anyone knew where in the Branson/ Springfield area Grass carp could be purchased in this area? Hope you ain't planning on being a bucket biologist with those carp. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Mitch f Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Are they alive Mitch? It's different everytime I go in, sometimes they are and sometimes they are on ice. The place is called "Seafood City" on Olive east of 170 by a couple of miles on the south side of the road. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Outside Bend Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 http://mdc.mo.gov/landwater-care/lake-and-pond-management/pond-management/management-advice-private-pond-owners There you can find the Missouri Fish Dealers pdf- they're organized by county, so you should be able to find one in your area. There's also some bulletins on using grass carp for weed control on the MDC site, and hard copies available at most regional offices. <{{{><
Walleyedmike Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 In the past my local Orscheln's store sold game fish for stocking in the spring. I believe they also sell grass carp. I haven't noticed it in their ads this spring, but I haven't looked for them either. Might give your closest store a call. WM
