drew03cmc Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I'm not getting worked up over beer. I will drink anything as long as it's cold and wet. My preference is typically something along the lines of Tecate or Modelo Especial in a can, but PBR is cheap and delicious. Ronnie, let me know what river, what weekend and we can try to make something happen! Andy
joeD Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 "I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly…" Ron Burgundy I love beer too. Especially ice cold out of a cooler. Eventually my hand will go numb, due to the sheer number of times my hand goes into that ice chest. As far as my judgement being watered down, well, I take that as a compliment, since I really don't have any. "Guess I'll have to tell 'em, that I ain't got no cerebellum..." Ramones "Teenage Lobotomy" In sum, as long as it has alcohol in it, I'll drink it. Often. In disturbing quantities. My liver gave up a long time ago and will no doubt be a source of wonder for the medical community for years to come. (I wonder if my Russian and Irish heritage has anything to do with it...)
Gavin Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 My camp kit is usually well stocked. Doubt that I'll die of thirst....
Trout Commander Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I will drink anything as long as it's cold and wet. No matter your tastes, free beer is good beer. And as far as Scotch goes, I can rarely be caught (when fishing) without my flask of Johnnie Walker Black. It is the only hard stuff that is a staple in my cabinet. Actually, Johnnie comes around so much that when my son was somewhere between 18 months and two years old and made his first imaginary friend his name happened to be Johnnie Walker. Ole' Johnnie still goes on family road trips with us (the imaginary one of course) and comes over to play now and again. My son is now four and a half. I couldn't help but laugh a couple of months ago when my mother-in-law asked my wife and I, in a very surprised and and inquisitive, half laughing tone if we were aware that Johnnie Walker was in fact a type of Scotch Whisky. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
flytyer57 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 = a big fat fine on the river... Cans, please... Don't drink while fishing on the lakes or rivers. But if you absolutely have to, cans are fine. Canned beer just don't taste as good as bottled beer. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trout Commander Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Canned beer just don't taste as good as bottled beer. Amen. Canned < Bottled < Kegged I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
flytyer57 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I drink beer when I'm thirsty. As long as it's wet and cold I'm happy...although I show a preference sometimes for Mexican beers. I was really happy when Costco stocked cases of assorted Mexican beers for Cinco de Mayo. Tecate, Dos Equis brown and green, and some other beer that came in a clear bottle. When I really want to drink, give me some good scotch. And don't ever try to impress me with wine. It all tastes like crap to me. You like Mexican beer, but you drink Scotch whiskey? What's wrong with a good Tequila???? Chinaco Añjeo!!!! There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
David Unnerstall Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I show none of the homosexual tendencies above, and like Drew, prefer PBR over many other brews. PBR is far from beer flavored water. PBR actually exhibits a complete robust flavor with a hoppy ending, not that dissimilar from Yuengling and other micro brewed lagers that receive countless raves from your average beer drinker to connoisseurs alike. I drink PBR on a regular basis among a slew of micro brews such as (the whole line of) Mother's Brewing, (the whole line of) Big Sky Brewing Company, Arrogant Bastard IPA, Boulevard Wheat, IPA and their entire smokestack series, just to name a few. I do believe that it is your judgment of beer (and who knows what else) that is watered down, sir. Also, if I may, I would like to ask what your beer preferences are. TC, All levity aside: Is PBR really all that?
flytyer57 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Is PBR really all that? I used to drink PBR when I was a teenager back in the 70's. I've since learned that there are much better beers out there. And if you have to put a lime in your beer to hide the awful taste of the beer... There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trout Commander Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 TC, All levity aside: Is PBR really all that? There is a beer for every situation. Where applicable PBR cannot be beat. If I am grilling or on the river or playing softball or any other place where I will drink more than 3 brews, PBR is all that. If I am having a beer with a nice meal PBR is not all that and there are several brews I would choose over PBR. Although there are beers that are much cheaper than PBR they simply don't stack up. I did get a nice surprise yesterday evening when I made my Thusday night stop for a 6 pack of 16oz PBR and they were only $4.49. Keep in mind that be it women, cars, fishing or beer. It all comes down to personal opinion. There are people out there who honestly think that Bud Light is the best beer going. They just can't help it. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
