ollie Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 This one is hard to tell without more facts. I'm from Missouri and you would just have to "show me". If he wasn't catching anything else then it would be easy to see him as a snagger. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
flyfishmaster Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Leonard, I was thinking the same that there was a one brown trout per day limit, but I cannot not find that fact anywhere. It appears an angler (in any of the 4 parks)can keep as many as 4 brown trout as long as they were over 15" long. I did not know that. My learnig for today is now complete. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
FishinCricket Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I'm sure he'd be headed to the park store for a lunker patch and his name on the board. Yeah, that's what I meant.. If there were no recognition involved, would he still do it? What if they only gave a patch for catch and release? cricket.c21.com

Later, FFM It musta changed when they dropped the length limit to 15, cause I'm pretty sure I know an Ol boy who learned the hard way... Did you see Taney is still 18+ inches and 1/day? cricket.c21.com
Members yeehaw Posted July 18, 2011 Members Posted July 18, 2011 I was just at Montauk last week staring at the big map on the wall of the lodge. It still said there only 1 brown a day, so that must've been the case in the past.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 18, 2011 Root Admin Posted July 18, 2011 Taneycomo is 20 inches and one of four trout per day. If he's taking that many big trout out, there won't be many left soon. He's fishing himself out of a good time- literally. He could be using sculpin for bait or another live or cut bait no one else is using. Could be using something illegal like trout parts. Bottom line is that if he's this out front of his catch, I would think the agents there would be watching him pretty close so that he is stay within the law. If he's been doing this for quite a while, I bet he's legal. Don't know the shop or shop owner but if it was me, I'd make darn sure he's catching them legal if he's bringing them in the shop showing them off. I'd watch him myself. But that's just me.
flyfishmaster Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Yeehaw, I thought the signs at the park do state that as well (one one brown / day). Since I have not seen one of those signs on about 8 months (if not more) I do not know that for a fact so I was going off the regualtions off the MDC website: MDC Link to regulations If in fact it is only one brown per day, I should would not be post pictures of the the daily catch. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
TroutRinger Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Isn't the statewide possession limit for brown trout 1? "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
