Stump bumper Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Just saw that Cabela's was opening a store in Rogers, myself I would rather have Bass Pro but guess we are close enough to Tulsa and Springfield stores. http://www.4029tv.com/news/28691063/detail.html
Quillback Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Yeah, if given a choice I would rather have Bass Pro. But Cabelas does carry a lot of stuff I like, so they'll be getting some of my money in the future. Ought to create some jobs also, I wonder if they hire part-timers?
Jack Jones Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I dissent, LOL. I've been to a few Cabelas and I tend to like them a little better. Either way, Rogers isn't that far away and it's nice to have choices. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
Flysmallie Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I kind of agree with Capt. Jack. I guess having Bass Pro about 10 minutes away kind of spoils ya maybe. They have a ton of stuff, but never what I'm really looking for. My dad and I have always joked if you want to know what the fish are biting on in the area lakes go to Bass Pro and look for what they don't have. Plus the flyshops in the Cabela's that I have been in are way better than the Flyshops in Bass Pro. But there are better places to spend your money.

But, I still end up running to Cabela's to get something last minute -- it's less than 20 minutes away. But, I've found all of the bricks-and-mortar stores will disappoint you on selection. They move stuff in and out seasonally, won't have all the sizes, colors, whatever. I ran up there a few weeks ago to replace a fly line, and they didn't have what I wanted. I really prefer to shop online anyway. Never an issue like that, ships right to my office, and I can dodge sales tax with many merchants. John

I like it too. Plus I don't end up with a bunch of other crap that I didn't need in the first place. But I will say that the flyshop in Bass Pro in Sprinfield has about a third of the selection of Cabela's in KC. Kind of sad really.
Danoinark Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Should be a boost to the Rogers area.....good lick. Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Martin Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 For me... It will be nice to have a Cabelas in the neighborhood. About an hour north, BPS...About an hour SW there will a Cabelas. Kind of depends on who they cater too...Will it be trout and stripers, with a little bass mixed in ?? Or will it be alot of walleye stuff with the others mixed in... I DOUBT that..lol It will still be nice to have somewhere else to go look and ...leave your money.
Ron Burgundy Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I think this is great!!!! Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Martin Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Burgundy...You sound like a walleye fisherman to me ... We should go when the weather dips to 85 degree highs ! What do you think ?
