magicwormman Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Welcome home Bill!!! The fishing reports have been pretty scarce since you left. I think you might be the only guy fishing the Rock these days. When is the halibut feed? I WOULD BOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS AT YOUR LODGE FOR SOME FRESH HALIBUT. I've heard a few reports on some topwater action...........I'm ready.
Bill Babler Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Magic Worm, we had Black Rock Fish Tacos last night with Texas Slaw. They were Yummy. Will get out a report this week on the lake, good or bad. Have been hearing both from the boys. Seems to be a pretty good shallow drop shot bite, Sounds like a rig bite to me. More later. Thanks Guys. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
glennL Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 For what it's worth. Talked to an oldtimer today who fishes the vinney creek/emerald beach area and here's what he said. Fish the 1st dock in the creeks. Fish are biting early and often until the sun shows. Then it shuts down. So, we're headed on to the water at 515am Tuesday to be ready for that "grey" period. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. By 7am he states, the bite is over. Tomorrow am, we could have some cloud cover, so the bite might go longer. Glenn

Members lildave Posted September 4, 2011 Members Posted September 4, 2011 The Shell Knob area is really nice, with not nearly the boat traffic as the lower end of the lake. Kelly and Dawn have a real nice resort called Big Creek resort, located in the mouth of Big Creek, near the Campbell Point Marina. The have a small fiberglass bass boat you can rent. Nuthin fancy, but serviceable. Also, Campbell Point Marina has boats for rent. The resort has a wide variety of accomodations and rates. You can go big or cheap, but all the rooms are clean and nice. If it's just you and your wife, they have a couple real nice private cabins with private decks right on the water. Their dock is top notch, and Big Creek is a great fishery for smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass. You literally don't have to crank the big motor to catch a lot of fish. I stay there all the time, and have tried a lot of other resorts. Nice place, super owners, and a great value. Check out their site with the link below. http://www.bigcreekresort.com/home.html
