Members Rocky Posted August 31, 2011 Members Posted August 31, 2011 I have a Zodiac style inflatable boat that weighs about 50 lbs. I want to put a small gas outboard motor on it and use it on the White River from Bull Shoals dam on down to Norfork. Will a 4 or 5 hp motor, with 2 people in the boat, be capable of going upstream at a decent rate when they are running 8 units?

grizwilson Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 No, if you chose to try it make sure your wife has a large life insurance policy. Several folks die here every year, many more rescued. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
gotmuddy Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 The people who die on the white die from boats flipping and hypothermia. The only way I would try a boat like that is doing a drift float. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Members Whiteriver Posted September 5, 2011 Members Posted September 5, 2011 It will work great if your only planning to go downstream, but you're screwed if you start to go up. Go see Rob over at Supreme/Shawnee and let him build you a river boat. Be safe on this high water...
