FishinCricket Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 It's a "sleeper" sport because of the amount of weed that gets smoked before, during, and, after it. After a good session in the woods and a bowl of Cap'N Crunch, you're ready for some "sleep" in your vomitorium. I'll take that over a rodeo and the slovenly drunks that accompany it... joeD Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Unfair? Twaddle. I am speaking from experience. My son inhaled copious amounts of cereal after his frolfing sessions. Poor Cinnamon Life didn't have a chance.
Haris122 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Can anyone guide me to public spots from which to access Joachim creek? Been wanting to fish (from the bank or kayak) it but there's really not much I have found out about places to access it. So far I've only stumbled into West Festus park, and some mentions of some kind of park that's in Herculaneum. I intend to check google earth and or maps more thoroughly but it would be cool if people that know also chime in, as that's always helpful if my other avenue doesn't work out.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Yes, west city park in Festus, Doe Run Access in Herculaneum, and Walther Park in DeSoto. The creek has been low,but it is flowing decently right now thanks to the rains. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Haris122 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Thanks Daryk. I'm thinking I'll try my luck at that one that's called Bates Memorial Park. So I did find some mention of it, but on any maps I'm looking at I'm not finding any definitive identifier, so mind pointing me to where Doe Run Access is for future reference?
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Sure, I-55 south to Herculaneum, make a left (east) on McNutt. Take to Hwy 61/67 or also called Commercial Blvd go left (North) to Joachim Ave approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile on right. Make the right go through the park, cross the bridge that goes over the creek, access is on the right. Gravel parking lot, ramp is to the left. Google maps puts the intersection at Joachim Ave and Brown Rd. Gonna look up Bates MemorialPark, haven't heard of it. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Well, it seems that you and I are talking about the same place. .. hope you did well. There is also an access off of Hwy A just before Hwy P if you are going towards Hillsboro. It is just a bridge, but during high water in the spring, you can shuttle to West City Park. Haris122 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Cool, thanks Daryk. Today I only managed to get like 50 minutes in, and I didn't have any luck with it, but maybe next time it will work out.
Haris122 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Went down there again this afternoon, and caught a solid little Drum that was around the foot mark, or just shy of it, on a roostertail of all things. Certainly gave a good account of himself, I thought I had something a bit bigger on, judging from the drag and overall reluctance to come to me. Had another bite on a rod I had put out and let sit with stinkbait on, but it didn't take it for good, so I never found out what it was. That sums up the action there was for me. Not the best day to be out there, but it was stil nice.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Are you fishing up current or down? The Mississippi is not far down, but I have always went up current towards I-55, it gets really shallow up that way. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction.
