You guys are saying this is the worst Table Rock has ever been and some of the guys have been fishing the Rock for over 40 years. Why do you think it is so terrible fishing right now? Weather? Fishing pressure? Tournaments? Boat Traffic? Smarter Fish? What gives?

I think it's a great question! I wish I had all the answers. I think it's a combination of things that are causing the ultra slow bite. September and October have always been a tough time for me. That is one reason I get my bow out and do a little deer hunting. It's also a good time for me to work on the honey-do list that I've put off all summer. If I had to guess why this year is so tough, I would say, weather conditions and tournaments are the biggest factors. The clear water, clear sky, and lack of wind can spank you and send you home. Some days, I can catch a few on a spoon or a dropshot, but legal fish have been hard to come by. When you see the really great fisherman on this site struggling to catch fish, you know it's tough. Even KVD gets humbled on the Rock, so I guess we shouldn't feel too bad.,

I talked to a guy at Cape this week. He said that he couldn't buy a bite on the lower end so he drove up there to give it a try. I guess the big boys couldn't catch lower end fish either as they were all over the place running up the Flat and James all day with their wrapped boats. A bunch of them had power poles. I'll bet they never let them down on the Rock.

Seems to be tough all over the area, I fished Beaver yesterday, I had to work hard to get 5 12" spots and some dinks, only could get bit by tossing finesse worms into cedar tops. Talked to some guys fishing a church tourney on one of the Bella Vista lakes last week and they were struggling too, winner had 5 fish for 8.5 lbs.

I don't do so ewell in the fall anyway so no answer here. I think things just cycle. Two or three springs from now we all will be talking how awesome of a fishery Table Rock is!

It is always tough when fish don't really have to be anywhere and the water temp is basically the same throughout the water column. It just really spreads the fish out and until they think winter is coming it will stay that way. It is the main reason why I usually cover water like a demon in Sept/Oct hoping to come across some feeders. Also, it doesn't help much that we have had a ton of high pressure days lately. It will bust loose soon...November and December are still two of my favorite months to be on Table Rock.
