Of all the professional sports, I have always thought that fisherman and golfers were truly the classiest pros.

For the most part, these guys and gals are good folks who are fan-friendly, as opposed to the tattoo-covered punks who fail drug tests, have criminal records and beat women. (NFL, NBA, MLB)

Both golf and fishing require a keen mental edge, and while fitness is important, not all of the top performers are pure athletes. (Craig and Kevin Stadler and John Daly come to mind, as do David Fritts, Woo Daves and others on the BASS tour)

But, as we have seen in 2 previous posts about the Central Open and the PAA tournament, bass fishing has a few "characters".

Roland Martin has always been known as a primadonna, and the recent post confirms that.

Tommy Biffle has had his share of "issues", one of which I documented in my earlier post.

Iaconelli rubs some people the wrong way, and while he's a pretty good guy, Rick Clunn is one strange bird.

In golf, you have John Daly, who has been an embarassment to the PGA tour. A buddy of mine, who was on the PGA tour several years ago, said that Hale Irwin was a jerk, and very few players liked him.

All in all, though, the "bad guys" are a very small percentage of either sport.

Definitely my two favorite sports as well, gitnby ... both to participate in and to watch. As you said, every niche in life has a few bad apples. I agree with you, though, that they are few and far between in fishing and golf.

Only difference between the two - I'm way better at golf than I am at fishing :)

I only visit golf courses because they have ponds.

Great fishing on golf course ponds. Not uncommon for me to have a travel rod in the golf bag :)

Could this have the makings of the inaugural Ozark Anglers golf tourney?
