Table Rock Lake Habitat Reconstruction

Boys and Girls, as the end of the Habitat. Reconstruction process winds up a nearly 4 yr. process on Table Rock Lake, what are we the general public and the fishermen that are on the water at our every opportunity seeing from it.

1st. how many of you are fishing the debris fields and what types of fish are you catching from them?

Are you looking for the fields in certain areas?

Would you fish them more if you could find the easier?

How are you fishing these areas that are full of obstructions and hangups?

Do you believe they are holding quanities of fish?

What do you think of the placements?

Just give us your general thoughts on the project. Millions of dollars were spent to improve habitat on Table Rock. was this good, or just Smoke thrown in the Water.

I for one have down loaded and fished the areas. some are better than others, some are better at times. for the most part i have caught mostly small fish. i have used my under water camera on a lot of the areas and have found fish on all of them. i have 3 i fish during derbys, and one i have caught more keeper than others. i myself believe it has help. i wish this would happen in my lakes here in and around the kansas city area. I do hope they keep this up, and i believe it is a good idea

1st. how many of you are fishing the debris fields and what types of fish are you catching from them? ( I fish many of them for crappie and bass, crappie have been the best, but in the heat of summer I have caught bass on them the times that I have fished them)

Are you looking for the fields in certain areas? ( I like the ones as far away from existing structure as possible)

Would you fish them more if you could find the easier?

How are you fishing these areas that are full of obstructions and hangups? (Find it with a FBJ, and then throw a light weight texas rigged finesses in or around it)

Do you believe they are holding quanities of fish? ( I have seen proof in photos, as well as on my lowrance, particularly crappie suspended over the top of them)

What do you think of the placements? ( Some are great, some didn't accomplish a whole lot, for example, piles that are located within standing cedars..etc)

Just give us your general thoughts on the project. Millions of dollars were spent to improve habitat on Table Rock. was this good, or just Smoke thrown in the Water. ( I don't think the results are as tangible as we want them to be......a lake that is getting older each year needs to be suplimented with man made habitat. It will take time.....If it wouldn't have been done and fishing deteriorated over time, we probably would be wishing that MDC would have done something.)

Everyones thoughts matter, let us know yours. (I fully support this project, it is a good thing when folks like MDC try to focus on protecting and enhancing our natural resources.

Three years ago this Month we were fishing the flats across the White from Baxter and watched the MDC pontoon boat dump load after load of brush in Flint Cove which is where the picture on page 16 of this Month's Conservationist magazine was taken. That's the first cove on the right headed downlake after you exit Baxter Marina.

I can't speak for the other brush piles but can't figure out why MDC only shows two locations of brush in Flint. Granted, the two marked on their map are in deeper water but they added, and never marked, about 10 additional piles along the right hand bank going into Flint in very shallow water and they are easily visible at normal lake levels. Why they saw fit to dump the quantities of brush in the shallow water I can only guess would be to create spawn or fry habitat maybe ??? No one I know of has caught anything off the shallow brushpiles even during Bluegill bedding season.

It would seem beneficial if there were some shore marker system developed to allow anglers who don't have GPS to more easily locate the brushpiles.

It's a good program, certainly can't hurt, and I hope it continues.

I came upon a marker and pile south of the 86 bridge. Of course it was over a month ago and fishing was still slow so I can't give it a grade just an "incomplete". I have donated so many jigs to another area of natural cover that I avoid fishing with jigs there. However, my sonar shows fish there as a rule.

There is a marker on the shore on the point just south of point 2 that indicates that the MDC has sunken stumps in that area. I havent had any success there but there is a sign that is clearly visible.

Is this supposed to be available to download to a hot spots card? If so, how is it done?
