jdmidwest Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Interesting whale tail. I wonder if it really works since the lower unit does not sit much lower than the hull of the boat. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
gotmuddy Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I sit corrected. I wonder how well that works. The design doesnt look to me like it actually creates lift. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

They create great lift......if the motor was mounted correctly on the transom, they will allow you to get on plane a little faster especially with a lighter hull and they will help you stay up on plane at slower speed from the hulls I have been in that have them on their motors. It's really not dramatic enough to see from the passengers point of view but as the boat operator you tell a real difference. At $100 bucks it's a nice option to have, if you buy a rig from Troutt&Sons in St.James they put one on just for the safety aspect.
