Members islandspeed Posted December 22, 2011 Members Posted December 22, 2011 I will be planning a two week trip this spring to visit my brother and to spend a great deal of this time on the water. My brother has mentioned that MO has passed new regs regarding the wearing of felt soled wading boots in some (?) of your trout streams. Any insight on this new reg? Does this mean that I can't bring my brand new felt soled wading boots with me?
Outside Bend Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 The reg won't go into effect until March 1st, 2012, so you should be fine. <{{{><
MaxDrown Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 The regulation doesn't start until March I believe. -- Max Drown
eric1978 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I believe "spring" starts in March, so...hang up the felts. I heard from a reliable source that, basically, if it's a stream with trout in it, the felt is gonna be banned there. Just what I heard, we'll see.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I understand why... but really ???? Banning felt soled boots ???? Really .... now another thing MDC river monitors will be watching for... I understand Simms quit entirely making felt soled anything - but by popular demand - they reintroduced them. Very tough to enforce.. and too little too late if you ask me. Just my .02. Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I would love to hear the reasons why this change makes 100% sense. EDIT - here is the LINK and the VIDEO : http://mdc.mo.gov/newsroom/mdc-bans-porous-soled-waders-help-protect-trout-waters-invasive-algae Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
jdmidwest Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 You don't have to hang up the felts, just glue them shut (the porus material). MDC released a video on how to do it, but I have been busted down to dialup again due to a satellite problem and could not watch it. Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 At the end - the guy says " What's your favorite trout stream worth to you ? " So I get it. I will buy a new pair of boots. I have already had the Five-Ten black soled boots by LLBean and they were great. Bass Pro will surely sell a ton of the Eco-Clear boot now.
