fishinwrench Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Yeah well, it might only be 60 bucks for YOU.....but I have 3 sets of feet to cover, and two of them are females with extremely anal footware preferences. If you knew all the crap I had to go through the last time you'd just hand me a firearm and bid me farewell. LOL
Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 60 bucks ?? I cannot seem to find hardly any that aren't $130-$180! Gavin Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 $60 bucks wont even pay for 2 sets of Simm's boot studs...figure its gonna set me back $400 to replace two sets of boots and install studs...plus the cost of two door mats to keep the interior of my canoe from getting beat up..Darn big goverment mandates !
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Oh well, it's gonna happen, and the $60 or so that we'll have to pay to replace them is pretty small compared to what we are spending on gas money to get to the river, flies, fly tying material, rods, reels, leaders, and tippet, (or spinners, powerbait, jigs, hooks, line and such) and all the other stuff we end up buying in a year of fishing. Pretty small? I don't see it as small, even if you can get legal for $60, which I doubt. My question is whether it has been found in a free flowing stream. Tailwaters can't be compared to free flowing streams. If not then maybe the ban should apply to Taney only. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
drew03cmc Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 $120 for a decent pair of boots is not a small expenditure. I could buy a new (to me) reel and some lures to toss at the bass for the same price. Andy
Chief Grey Bear Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Ehhh Drew, why is it everyone always throws out the high end prices to make their argument. A little frugality will go a long ways towards compliance and happieness. siusaluki had a fabulous idea that will work great. Just a little imagination and ingenuity is all that is needed. I guess some are doer's and other are just complainers. stlfisher Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Cabela's ultralight rubber soled wading boots are $60 last I checked and I think an affordable option. I have a pair of felt soled ones that have lasted 3 years and I have had no problems with them. I work them pretty hard too. Maybe not as sexy or cushy as the higher end ones, but I think they are a great value for the money.
Outside Bend Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 My question is whether it has been found in a free flowing stream. Tailwaters can't be compared to free flowing streams. If not then maybe the ban should apply to Taney only. It hasn't been found in free-flowing streams in Missouri yet, but it has become a nuisance in undammed streams in other parts of the world. <{{{><
Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Can someone tell me what I saw one year on the NFotW in August. You couldn't even get a drift because of all the muck knocked loose by canoes and such. Was that Didymo or just crazy rampant algae bloom ? Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Gavin Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Brian, The snot moss isnt didy...annoying as just the same..I'd attibute the snot moss on the NFoW to developement...Mountain grove has a poor sewer system that drains to the NFoW, and I'm pretty sure that a few of those play places that got built on the trout water have inadequate septic systems because the snot moss is thicker in front of some of them.
