Can anyone recommend a technique for fishing nymphs around root balls in the creeks. I know they hold fish but the only thing I ever catch is the tree. Thanks in advance.

Yes it is. It's when you can't remember things, like Alzheimers, but only some of the time. Sometimers.

It was down around the bend with the high red clay bank you are thinking of. It was the high bank at the bend, a downed tree and then the root wad. I fished the shlt out of that tree laying down.
