MOsmallies Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Hello All, I finally joined the 21st century with an iPhone last week. I'm 26 years old and had the same sliding phone for 6 years. Find me another 26 year old with that old of a phone. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could suggest any useful Missouri map apps. I'm looking for something that could provide GPS capabilities and/or topographic details. I mainly want this for Lake of the Ozarks, but any additional lakes/rivers would be a bonus. If this is not out there, no biggie! Just thought I'd check with those that have been using the technology. I would be willing to pay a reasonable price for this kind of app, but free is always good to. Thanks for any suggestions! Paul MOsmallies
moguy1973 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 It's not a free one($7.99) but it has all the USGS topo maps in the US and canada available... http://topomapsapp.com/ http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/topo-maps/id306014271?mt=8 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
fishinwrench Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 You wont find an accurate topo map of lake O. The old yellow Structure Graphic paper maps were the closest but they have become hard to find. All the others are based off the same contours as the hotspot maps and they are so far off its crazy.
DChance Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I would love to get my hands on a good topo map of LOZ and Pomme too. As far as apps go, Navionics has a great app ($10 or $15) that you can use a lot like it was on your GPS unit. topo map, waypoints, ability to create waypoints, GPS, etc.
gotmuddy Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 The navionics apps are top notch. I have the lakes south version. I also use Trimble outdoors which is actually far more usefull to me because it will save maps in a cache. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
DChance Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I don't believe the Trimble outdoors has lake maps though with depth contours etc. I think it is just a topo map.
Members Matt Henry Posted January 15, 2012 Members Posted January 15, 2012 You will not be disappointed with the Navionics Lake South map. Best 9.99 I ever spent on fishing. Matt Henry
MOsmallies Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Thanks for the replies! Looks like I'll be downloading the Navionics app. Can't wait to start playing with it.
